comfort of her citi zens Take the strap hanging and crowding in our street cars for in stance In Paris street cars and stages are not permitted to carry more PAKIS TBAPFIC BEGULATOB passengers than there are seats In order to prevent the rush of people trying to board the cars at the stop ping places small metal boxes have been affixed to lampposts These boxes contain small metal checks with running numbers and everybody who wants to board a stage or car takes one of those checks The passengers enter the cars according to their numbers and all crowding Is in this way avoided CHANGS ARE Attorney General W T Thompson has given an opinion to County Attor ney Sidney Dodge of Red Willow coun ty holding that the statute does not prohibit one person from holding the office of clerk of the district court and the office of district court reporter and receive the emoluments of both offices He says the common law does not limit the number offices which may be held simultaneously by the same person provided that none of them are incom patible with the others The attorney general says I am unable to discover anything in the duties of the officers of court re porter and clerk of the district court as defined by the statute that is so repug nant incompatible or inconsistent as to render the duties of the one antago nistic to the other to the extent of barring one person of the right to hold both offices and receive the compensa tion therefor Lincoln Journal Ginghams plaids and stripes fast colors very pretty and serviceable McCOOK County Commissioners Proceedings McCook
