HcCOOK RED WILLOW COUNTY NEBRASKA THURSDAY EVENING NOVEMBER 25 1909
Dr Drivers Great Lecture
Friday evening in tho Temple theatre
Dr Driver held tho wrapt attention of
a fair sized and very appreciative audi
ence during tho full two hours of the
delivery of bis great lecture on the
World - Conquering Anglo - Saxon
Raco
The doctor pictured the Anglo Saxon
as in the providence of God the most
masterful and dominant people of all
history marshaling statistics to but
tress his claim drawing upon vital
statistics indicating tbe industrial and
financial power and productiveness
of tbe race its vast and inestimable
landed wealth and natural resources
and tracing with skill and fidelity the
evolution and blending of this imperial
and unconquerable people
His asides were frequent and some
times obscuringly prolix but pertinent
and potent for the point
The doctor pays a tremendously clever
and unanswerable tribute to tho Anglo
Saxon people and incidentally delivers
a high tariff speech that would delight
the heart of Aldrich and cause your
uncle Joseph to give another degree or
two to the angle of his fragrant Havana
The lecturer is splendidly clever and
adroit traveled and finished something
of a dreamer seer and prdphet always
entertaining and instructive although
you may not agree with him alwajs as
to his logic his philosophy or his con
clusions But
He is accumulating characteristics
eccentricities mannerisms or whatever
you may desire to style his drawls
grimaces etc which he could eliminate
from his lecture without loss to its dig
nity or effectiveness
The writer however has an hour or
two for the doctor any time he comes
this way his premier ego and all
