tion of Mr Weidenhamer
L B Lyman is a Lincoln man boy
his friends call him He is still young
in the early thirties His parents live
here He grew up hero and began
railroading here under Superintendent
Bignell He is a telegraph operator
for a time was trick dispatcher then
went into the freight train service and
worked up to the position of conduc
tor While a conductor he was made
an inspector of transportation for the
Nebraska district working under Gen
eral Superintendent Byram - Then he
went to Sheridan as a trainmaster
and from Sheridan he went to Sterling
as superintendent From Sterling he
goes to Wymore one of the difficult
divisions to manage because of annual
and some times semi - annual flood
trouuies lne division nas many
branch lines no big yards some rather
heavy grades It has been well man
aged in the past atd railroad men say
that Mr Lyman is going against a
ratber hard proposition but they expect
to see him make good there as he has
always made good in the past
C B Rodgers who is being relieved
at Wymore takes tho position of gen
eral manager of the Gulf Coast Line in
Texas in a short time It is understood
that he goes to the Texas road in re
sponse to an offer that looks big to his
railroad friends Lincoln Journal
Discharged for Use of Liquor
The Rock Island this last week dis
charged thirty men who had violated
the companys intoxication rules These
men were all employes of the Iowa di
vision The superintendent in speaking
of the incident said that the company
does not require absolute evidence of an
employe being intoxicated to merit dis
charge If he is known to loiter around
places where drink is sold is sufficient
grounds for his dismissal
ADDITIONAL RAILROAD
The pay car arrived Monday just be
fore noon and staked the boys for the
holidays
Fireman C Brown of the Holdrege
switch engine has been transferred to
McCook and will run on the road
Engineer H A Frey has been trans
ferred from Denver to McCook and he
and wife are now making this their
home
Harry Lebaron of Indianola is
new day man at the B M depot and
Mr Eummels near Denver is the night
operator Cambridge Clarion
L A Hurlburt spent the closing days
of last week here visiting the friends of
bis former home for years He is em
ployed in the Missouri Pacific train
service out of Fairbury
Mr and Mrs Paul Jones arrived on
14 Tuesday night from Lyons Colo
Paul went on to McCook the following
day but Mrs Jones will visit with home
