I to l TWENTY SEVENTH YEAR CELEBRATE 64TH ANNIVERSARY Mr and Mrs William Weygint Entertain on Their Wedding Anniversary Lust Saturday evening an overflowing bouse of noighbcrB friends and relatives were entertained by Mr and Mrs Willinni Woygint at their homo on north oth street east the occasion being the eixty fourth anniversary of their veading The honored old folks wore united in marriage in Cuylor Courtland county New York October 31st 1844 and have behind them the priceless heritage of sixty four years of happy eventful and useful married life The bride was born in Truxton Court land county New York November 3rd 1824 hence is 84 years of ago The groom was born in Vernon Oneida county New York December 18th 1821 hence is almost 87 years old Tney came west in 18G7 locating in Davenport Iowa but removing to Red Willow county Nebraska in 1872 being among its earliest settlers and Mr Woygint has the distinction of having ploughed the first furrow in this virgin soil AmDD g the guests of the evening was Judge E S Hill of Indianola who was Red Willow countys first county judge and married the first couple of record in the county Mr and Mrs W S Fitch who were also guests of the evening and are among the earliest settlers of the county O A Hotzo of Indianola an early settler was also present Both Mr and Mrs Weygint received small tokens of a large esteem in which they are held by the entire community and all over the county Mrs A C Marsh making the presentation for the ladies and H H Berry for the gentle men Brief remarks were made during the evening by Mr and Mrs Weygint Judge Hill Mr Hotze Elder Berry and others alone reminiscent lines Refreshments were served later in the evening and after an evening memorable and happy for all concerned with bound less well wishes the guests departed homeward Mr Woygict served four years in the rebellion and the occasion was graced by mang comrades in arms His father served seven years in the Revolutionary war while Mrs Weygints father was a soldier of the war of 1S12 Death of Baby Sheldon Word comes to the writer of the death Tuesday October 27th of Haby Walter Howard infant son of Mr and Mrs Burton Sheldon at North River The baby was brought to Ogallala for burial Services were there held in the Congre gational church by Pastor Wright who spoke very sympathetically The little remains were laid to rest in the Ogallala cemetery The young parents will have the sympathy of many Red Willow county friends and acquaintances Adding- Telephones on McCook Division The Burlington is realizing that this is a telephone as well as a telegraph age and is installing a telephone system in connection with its telegraph between here and Hastings It is expected that the system will be completed between here and There were two races Tho threo eighths race between1 Battle Ax owned by Mr Rinck and Noverseen tho prop erty of a Goodland Kansas gontloman Neverseen won The second race was between Senator Freeso owned by Mr Hayward of Palisade and Whiskey Poto owned by Mr Cain of Trenton Tho Senator won It was a five-eighths-mile race Both attracted much inter est and a considerable crowd To Tribune her uncle Gilbert B Nettle ton of Colorado Springs Colorado Miss Florence N Johnston late of Ainsworth Brown county this state was united in marriage with Rev Robert Paxton of Sulphur Springs Colorado The wed ding was quiet as to its particulars wit nessed only by near relatives and close friends of the engaging parties Miss Johnson came up to womans estate in this county the family being among the early settlers of Red Willow county Graduated from tho McCook high Bchool with the class of 1901 with high honors she subsequently taught with substan tial success in tho countys rural schools Removing with her parents to Ainsworth a few years since after teaching in tho schools she became superintendent of public schools serv ing with her usual fidelity for four years She resigned this position about a month since to take up the responsi bilities of the now life Mrs Paxton counts among her friends and well wishers all the Red Willow county peo ple of her large acquaintance Rev
