Judge Moore was a McCook visitor

C W Dow and son I R Andrews
and Charles Russell went to Lincoln
Tuesday to attend the fair
Mrs W D Mackechnie has very
sick but is improving now and her
friends hope she may soon regain her
usual health
Francis the little son of W H Pow
ell was the victim of an accident last
Friday evening that came near depriv
ing him of his eye sight As it is he
will carry the scars with him a long
time The little fellow got hold of a
shell emptied the powder and struck
a match to see it go off It exploded and
burned his face quite badly A doctor
was called and his wounds dressed At
first it was thought that his eyesight
was injured but the doctor thinks not
Jesse Hadley is on the sick list
Miss Ella Ridgley left Monday morn
ing for Illinois after a short visit with
homefolks
Mrs Conrad Miller and two children
went to Arapahoe Monday morning on
No 2 and spent the day with friends
Miss Nellie Andrews spent Tuesday
with friends in McCook She left on
No 1 Wednesday morning for Denver
where she goes to prepare herself to be
a nurse
Mrs Tim Haley and son Arthur went
to Denver Wednesday morning on a
visit
John Murray came down from Mc
Cook last of the week for a visit with
the folks on the farm
Mr and Mrs Oscar Teol and children
of Red Cloud are in town the guests of
relatives
Eugene Wilcox left for Cripple Creek
Thursday night Mr Wilcox goes for
the betterment of his health
Mr and Mrs Tom Haley went to
Arapahoe Sunday for a visit with rel
atives Mr Haley returned home
Monday night while Mrs Haley stayed
for a longer visit
B Lehna house was struck by light
ning during the storm last Wednesday

damaged but no one was injured

her visit in Missouri She had a royal
good time with her many friends and
relatives but thinks the stones in the
roads have grown some since she came
to Nebraska The shaking up she got
riding over those roads made her ap
preciate the fine Nebraska roads

have returned from Colorado after a
fine visit with friends and a trm to the
mountains They were glad to get back
to their fine Nebraska home

ed the woodwork painted and the old
seats and desks have been replaced by
new ones There has also been a well
put down and a pump put in and every
thing ready for business Monday morn
ing when school was opened with Miss
Dora Oyster as teacher
An ice cream supper was held at tho
church last Friday evening to rase mon
oy to buy a new lamp for the church
Just before leaving to go home after
supper J S Doyle donated two nice
lamps which the people of the church
appreciate very much The proceeds of
the supper which were 1585 will be
used for other church purposes

The peoplo of this vicinity are much
rejoiced that Orr and Skalla were nomi
nated and regret that Cochran was not
also one of the lucky men
The primary system dethroned the
McCook ring which is glory enough for
