Tuberculosis or Consumption
To impress upon the general pbblic the
wide dissemination of the different infec
tious and contagious diseases of animals
it is often necessary for such conditions
to come right home to us Such has beon
the case in our own city Magner
Stokes on last Thursday evening slaugh
tered a cow and upon viewing the car
cass and visceral found such a multitude
of Trntholoidcal conditions that they at
once concluded the flesh unfit to offer
the general public and being new to
them having never seen such before
thsy sought Dr W F Jones field Fed-
eral veterinary inspector in this district
who has bad vait experience in different
packing houses to ascertain whether or
not it was tuberculosis or what is com
monly known as consumption Their
suspicions were verified as Dr Jones
pronounced it a perfect caso of miliary
tuberculosis or pearley disease The
lungs lymphatic glands pericardium or
heart sack the heart itself and pleura
were studded with tho little tubercles in
nil stages of development Tho carcass
and all tho viscera wore condemned as
unfit for food and were cheerfully
burned by tho proprietors Dr Jones
has specimens of the lungs ljmphatic
glandspleura and liver in his possession
which he will keep in preservatives
