Engineer Pierce has been sent to the
Wyniore division to help during the
rush on that division Also one engineer
from Denver
Halsted and Pence are back from
keeping out the rush on the Northern
Pacific makiug the last to return of the
four full crews loaned that road some
weeks ago to clear up the freight con
gestion on that road The Denver men
have all returned as well
C F Heber Mack Hullhorst and
Lineman Sheets had an exciting exper
ience at Rupert near Perry station
Monday They were using Mr Hebers
motor out on line and wire inspection
While going along at a lively gait at a
crossing the car struck some cinders
climbed the rail and went into the ditch
with Hullhorst underneath Ho was con
siderably injured as to person and gar
ment as was MrHeber Lineman Sheets
escaped injury entirely

ORDINANCE NO 13a
An ordinance to create a board of lioalth
define its powers and duties establish a
quarantine hospital and pest house employ a
physician prevent the spread of contaeous
diseaso in the city of McCook and provide
penalties for the violation hereof and to repeal
ordinance No 57 passed and approved August
14 1894 on the same subject
Be it ordained by the mayor and city council of
McCook Nebraska
Sec 1 The board of health of the city of
McCook shall consist of the major who shall
be chairman the city phjsician who shall be
secretary the chief of police who shall be
health officer and the president of the city
council
A majority of said board shall constitute a
quorum to enact ordinances for the enforce
ment of all rules regulations and orders of said
b ard and provide lines and punishment- for a
violation thereof
Said board of health shall have power to
make all needful rules and regulation relating
to matters of health and sanitation of said city
including the removal of dead animals the
sanitary condition of the streets and alleys and
vacant grounds of stock yards cattle and hog
pens wells cisterns privejs water closets
cess pools stables and all buildings and places
not specified where filth nuisances or offensive
matter is kept or is liable to or does accumu
late
To regulate suppress and prevent the occur
ance of nuisances and enforce all laws of the
state and ordinances of the city relating to the
same as to the matter of health and sanitation
of the city
Said board shall also have control of all con
tagious and infectious diseases and the care
and treatment regulation and pretention there
of of hospitals dispensaries and places of
treatment of the sick and of matters relating to
the same under such restrictions and provisions
as may be provided bj ordinances of said city
Sec 2 Tho major with the consent of the
city council shall appoint a citj phjsician who
shall be a resident practicing pbjsician He
shall hold said office during tho pleasure of the
mayor who appointed him
In case of the office shall be filled by
the major in the manner aforesaid
Ho shall recehe as compensation for his
services the sum of 2 for each visit necessarily
made in and about the treatment tf any pati nts
that may be necessary co be treated for auy
contageous diseaso aforesaid and as secretarj
of said board of health he shall keep a record of
all its transactions which he shall record in a
book and do whatever other duty that way be
to perform by order of said board
The chief of police shall be the health officer
who shall executo all orders of the board of
health with authority to arrest and confine any
person or persons who violates any of the
ordinances rules and regulations of the board
and perform such other duties as may be requir
ed ot him bj said board
Sec 3 Tho major shall call a meeting of
said board whenever iu his opinion the public
safety requires to prevent the spread of infec
tious contageous and dangerous diseases and
to take action that may be necessary for the
health and sanitation of the citj and the
pjwers and duties herein enumerated shall
extend within a limit of lira miles of the city
of McCook and authority to enforce those
-provisions shall be co extensive therewith
Sec 4 Any person who shall violate any of
the provislous of this ordinance or the ordi
nances rules and regulations of the board of
health shall bo guilty of a misdemeanor and
upon conviction thereof shall be fined in auy
sum not exceeding fifty dollars 5000 and
shall be committed until such fine and costs of
prosecution are paid
That ordinance so 57 of the city of McCook
passed and approved August 14 11 be and
tho sama is hereby repealed
Sec 3 This ordinance shall take effect and
bo in force from and after its passage approval
and publication
