s K B Ti r i TWENTY FIFTH YEAR he Walter Leach Passes Away Walter Herbert Leach passed away in Lincoln last Sunday in the sanitarium where ho was taken some weeks since for treatment for rheumatism of the nerves an unusual and acute disease which bafiled every effort made for hie recovery and relief A fow months since Walter was in moat robust and vigorous health In a few weeks ho was reduced to helplessness and became a mere shadow of himself The last two weeks of his life he was unconscious Funeral services woro held in Roberts chapel Lincoln Monday afternoon at two oclock Interment followed in Wyuka cometery Lincoln Walter was 24 years 3 months and 24 days old Of exemplary habits great promise The family has the sincerest sympathy of everyone in this untimely death and sad bereavement Are Much Encouraged The Baptist friends feel much encour aged over results attained in securing pledges for improvements to their church property Quite 700 has been pledged and the canvass is incomplete They are CO day pledges Contract has been let for the sidewalk and stone steps New electric light fixtures have been ordered and upon installation the edifice will be well lighted morning where he has inter ests as well as at Orleans Mrs Anna Murphy occupied her new home north of the Methodist charch opening days of this week Mrs I M Beardslee Mrs D W G Pogue and daughter went down to Indianola this morning on a visit H W Keyes returned to Indianola Saturday morning from transacting some legal business in the county seat Mrs C M Bailey went down to Lin coln on a short visit last Saturday morning returning home Sunday night Mrs J F Forbes came up from Arapahoe Monday night and has been assisting J F secure a home here when the family will join him Theodore Day will take his departure next Monday morning on No 12 for his home in New Jersey He has been em ployed in the Wentz restaurant Mr and Mrs W L Zint have moved into quarters upstairs in tha Zint McClain block and Mr and Mrs A G Dole will occupy their residence Mr and Mrs George Cooley and his mother Mrs S J Cooley departed Saturday morning on 2 for Cheyenne Wyoming where he is employed Mrs R D Rodgers received the sad news of the death of a sister at North Platte last Saturday She has very tender sympathy in the bereavement Mrs W D Burnett visited her daughter Anna and other Lincoln rela tives end of last week returning home on Sunday night Coy accompanied her Captain Arthur King a former Red Willow countian now of Grand Island was in town this week visiting friends and attending the marriage of Miss Julia Sly Wednesday afternoon Captain C H Barrett received the sad news from Topeka Kansas early in the week that Mrs Barrett was afflicted with a cancerous growth and that an operation in her behalf was imperative Mrs H H Kingsbury returned to Denver early this week being accom panied by Mrs W W Archibald whom she visited here H H Kingsbury is again in the Burlington service in Denver Mrs Wm Byfield took advantage of the Denver excursion close of last week to go up to Colorado to see a sister who was reported verj ill She returned home on Monday morning Her sister was much improved happily Mr and Mrs A G Dole arrived from Missouri Valley Iowa early in the week and will resume their residence among us after an absence in Iowa of a few years They are old residents of Red Willow county and many friends join The Tribune is welcoming them back Mr and Mrs C R Woodworth ar rived from Boise Idaho close of last week to resume residence in McCook He has purchased the Lon Cone drug the Kan sas line in this county south of McCook had some misunderstanding or contro versy about some of Connors cattle get ting onto Redferns land and Redfern shot Connor the ball going in above the right eye and emerging near the right oar Redfern and Connor have been having troublo overstock and bad blood is said to exist between them The Tri bune understands that the offense was committed on the bridge over the Beaver near Barnett Withams but in Kansas territory so that Red Willow county authorities have no jurisdiction in the case a fact County Attorney Eldred and Sheriff Peterson established upon in vestigation Monday following the shoot ing Redfern gave himself up to Squire Hethcote at Danbury at once but on Monday he was released from his bond of 500 What the Kansas authorities will or have done deponent sayeth not Dynamited the Maywood Bank At an early hour Monday morning the State Bank of Maywood Frontier county was dynamited by robbers and the sum of 84000 secured by them The Perkins general merchandise store and the Peterson hardware store were also robbed the same night The robbers escaped one account states on horses another on a railroad velocipede Willis Blanding Monday morning at 7 oclock Rev A F Green officiated at the marriage of Elmer E Willis an implement dealer of Arapahoe and Mrs Mary Blanding of McCook They will make their home at stimulated by the operation of many manufacturing enterprises in her midst and yet we are not altogether lacking in that regard several promising businesses in that line being in operation the county several terms We wish them success and happiness in their far western home Death of James Cain After a baffling illness of several weeks James Cain passed away on Wednesday evening of this week at 7 40 Funeral services will be held at St Patricks church Saturday morning at ten oclock under auspices of McCook Council No 1126 Knights of Columbus James Cain was born in Joliet HI May 9th 1861 Moved with his parents to Indiana in 1S78 Came to McCook Neb in April 1883 and has resided in this city since that date Was united in marriage with Mary McAdams May 9th 1889 Big Fire at Akron Colorado The Burlington suffered a big fire and loss in the Akron yard last Friday night between 35 and 40 freight cars and the coal chute at that place being destroyed by fire Traffic was blocked for several hours by the fire Sheepish But Unabashed A wellknown farmer was noticed the other day wearing one of those friends of humanity sheep lined coats His countenance was a picture of content He
