Dead A private telegram from Arapahoe this morning announces the death of Mrs Sam Patterson of that city at an early hour this morning BARTLEY Mrs Rouse visited in Cambridge Fri day last John Heeson died Wednesday evening of last week and was buried in the ceme tery at Bartley Friday The funeral was not preached until Sunday morning The delegates from this precinct were well pleased with the Folk a Friend of Papers Jefferson City Mo July 18 Gover nor Joseph W Folk in addressing the retail merchants of Missouri at their convention here yesterday spoke against the mail order business and favored ad vertising in the town papers He said in part We are proud of our Bplendid cities and we want them to increase in wealth and population and we also want our country towns to grow We wish the construction and recon struction of the new McCook opera house and already the large building begins to loom up in proportions not yet understood by McCook people with its length of 130 feet and width of 50 feet and stage as large as the requirements of city a number of times larger than is a McCook today Plans and specifications for the new scenery have been received from Sos man Landis he scenic artists of Chi cago and they assure Manager W S Bixler that he will have the best ap pointed display of scenery in any opera house in the state Robert Baker who has had considerable experience in the theatrical business selected the scenery and will assist in its installment Sam Amburg formerly stage manager at McVickers theatre in Chicago who is now manager at Manhattan beach Den ver will be hero when the new opera house is ready to have the new scenery hung and the electric wiring done and will superintend both The new scenery alone will cost the nice dot of a 1000 jThe scenes are all of new organ ized the committee by selecting Rev J J Loughran as chairman Dr S C Beach secretary L W McConnell treasurer After some discussion it was decided to write several schools of nurses as to cost of
