with a sister and where she has secured

afternoon and night in the city on her
way homo to Imperial from a visit to
her mother in Doniphan and to Hast
ings relatives and friends She went up
the branch Wednesday morning
Ben Shipley who has made this ter
ritory for years for a drug house making
McCook his headquarters has retired
from this field and is succeeded by
George Haller a clever young knight of
the grip who will also make McCook
his headquarters

branch postal service has been
transferred to Omaha and will run on
Nos 3 and 2 coming west as far as Mc
Cook on No 3 and going east on 2

DECORATIONS
No elaborate decorative scheme was
essayed but white and green were the
colors used in the simple but pretty
effects Intertwined ribbons of white
and green were diagonally draped from
the four corners of the auditorium A
large Easter lily occupied prominent
place on wall in rear of platform about
it the words Hail to the Risen King
In addition there were cut flowers ferns
Easter lilies potted plants etc
CATHOLIC
There were two services in Saint Pat
ricks church to celebrate the great
day Thefirst service was held at 8 in
the morning the second one High
Mass at 1030 Both services crowded
the church Rev Loughrans sermon
at the second service was especially
strong
The mass was splendidly handled by
the following choir made up of the reg
ular choir augmented by some of the

In the morning there was the regular
servicethe evening service being spe
cial While no scheme of decoration
was followed the cut flowers and potted
plants etc gave the platform and pul
pit a pleasing and harmonious appear
ance
In addition to the sermon for the day
by Rev Holmes the music was notable
including solos by Mr Roy Weiden
hamer and Mrs A A Holmes a duet
by Mrs J C Marshall and Mr George
Burgess and an anthem by the choir
EAST MCCOOK
No special services wore held in East
MoCook but Rev G A Conrad ad
dressed the people after the regular

Barton is a McCook boy and his friends

Last weeks storm caused no end of
trouble to the operating department
The wires between Brush and Wray
Colo were all prostrated by the heavy
sleet which attached to them For that
distance the trains had to be operated
without the wires A large force of
men were put on repairs close of last
and first of this week some fifty men or
more and the broken wires repaired
and the lines in operation as usual by
