OBITUARY
Newman Dutcher was born in Her
miker Co N Y May 3 1813 He died
at the home of his son C K Nov 3
1905 aged 92 years 6 months
At the age of 33 he moved to Ohio
where he lived nine years Then he
moved to Greene Co Wis where he
lived three years On account of poor
health he came west as far as Floyd Co
Iowa where he farmed 28 years Then
he again moved west to Nebraska in 1883
His wife and 9 children survive him
His sons J WE S and OK and
families and daughter Mrs Hunter of
Iowa were present at the funeral which
was held at the M E church in Indian
ola at 2 oclock Nov i conducted by
Rev Erastus Smith pastor of the M
E church assisted by Rev Hawkins
pastor of the Congregational church
A large concourse of friends followed
his remains to their last resting place

Mrs Marion Kimerling is visiting at

Mrs August Miller died at her home
on the Willow November 11th and was
buried Sunday from the Lutheran
church The little two weeks old babe
died and was buried last week Mr
Miller has the sympathy of all in his
loss

Alex Brown of Missouri Ridge has
gone to Dodge City Kansas to see his
brother who is very low with dropsy of
the heart
Mrs Christian Stevenson who has
bepn visiting Agent Lawritson and fam
ily left for her home in ITolbrook Sun
day morning
The lectures are over at the Catholic
church for the present We are in ro
ceipt of the news that we are to have an
other course soon
A ball was given at the opera house
in honor of Henry Crabtree and bride
last Friday evening 4 large number
was in attendance
The Adventists hold their meetings
every Saturday at the home of Mrs
Phillips We have not been informed
as to the name of their minister
C W Dow is having some new side
walks put down in front of his new im
plement house It is of concrete and
W P Elmer is doing the work
L B Simmons was granted a vaca
tion to recuperate and rest up for awhilo
He has been a very faithful and efficient
helper in the office for a long time
Dick Roper whose home is in Oregon
and who has been working in McCook
the past summer visited friends and
relatives in Indianola a few days this
week
Henry Crabtree Jr and Miss Rose
Meyers were married last week The
vill go to housekeeping shortly in the
house recently built on the Powell
ranch
Mrs Hatchers sister who has been in
these parts for the past several weeks
on business and pleasure combined left
on No 5 Sunday 6vening for her home
in the west
R E Smith is putting the finishing
touches to Wm A Dolans new house
It is almost finished and presents a very
pretty appearance It will be ready to
move into soon
Word came to Indianola last Satur
day that W E Rollings who has been
living in Lincoln for the past few years
is dead Mr Rollings was a resident of
Indianola in days gone by
Miss Verna Brown who has been visit
ing relatives in this county left for her
home in Dodge City Kans last week
in answer to a telegram announcing the
serious illness of her father
Fred Burt has bought a farm near
Haigler and will take possession in the
near future We are sorry to lose these
people for they are among our best cit
izens but hope that our loss will be
their gain
Wm Porter of this place now has one
of the finest farms in Dundy county He
bought six hundred and fifty acres His
farm is situated about eight miles from
Haigler He will not move his family
until spring
Mr Holland living west of town had
the misfortune to break his leg one day
this week He seems to be particularly
unfortunate in this instance as this is
the third or fourth time the same limb
has suffered a fracture
Mrs A N Puckett died Saturday
morning at half past two oclock and
was buried Sunday afternoon from the
Congregational church sermon by Rev
Hawkins Many beautiful tokens in
the way of flowers were in evidence
A large crowd of relatives and friends
were present at the funeral

friends of W D Williams gathered at
his home last Sunday to help him cele
brate the anniversary of his forty third
birthday The occasion was also the
anniversary of Mr and Mrs Williams
marriage

Charlie Byfields nervous system was
visibly effected last Saturday while
going over No 1 At a point on the
route he was shocked to find that his
bag of letters was missing He retraced
a considerable distance of the way with
out success and finally set his face south
ward again in hope of finding that which
was lost A little farther along he re
ceived shock two times he was sitting
on the bag
