Affair The oyster supper and entertainment given by the menof the church in the Congregational chnrch last Friday evening was liberally patronized and greatly enjoyed The men showed themselves to be him Miss E Schrader of Lincoln is one of the trained nurses on duty at the Sutton borne during tho illness of Rob ert Steve Wilson arrived home early in tho week from Lincoln where he has been visiting his cousin Mrs William K Dye Charley Kelley came up from the state university Lincoln last Friday night and spent a few days of this week with his parents Mrs F J Zajicek has been enter taining her fathor C W Swanson of Oxford who returned home Tuesday morning on No 2 Congreessman Norris will leave to morrow for Washington to get a resi dence in order for the family which will follow him next week Mrs H A Beale arrived home Tuesday night from an absence of a few weeks in Illinois and other eastern points visiting relatives Mrs C A Baldwin returned from Omaha close of last week with her husband who made her a short visit in the states metropolis last week Miss Josephine Phelan departed Wednesday morning on No 2 for Alli anco via Lincoln visiting briefly at the latter point on her way to seo Alliance relatives and friends Dr W L Thorp the well known Denver physician was in the city Sun day to see his personal and esteemed friend- Conductor C W Bronson who has been sick for several weeks J Frank King was out from Omaha early days of the week on insurance business He appointed Eph Benjamin local agent while here for his company the Security Trust and Life Insuranc Co Mrs W H Dungan returned home Sunday night from a visit in Omaha Hastings and Aurora The children ac companied her and remained at Hast ings during her visits at the other points J L Woodson was summoned to Lincoln last Saturday night by news that his mother had been seriously in jured by falling ddwn a flight of nine steps backwards and her head coming in contact with a stone wall We under stand her condition is now favorable Rev Halberslaben pastor of the Congregational church at Palisade ex changed pulpits with Rev Hawkes of the McCook church last Sunday Rev Halberslaben is not a stranger to many McCook people and his visit over Sun day and sermons were a source of profit to all who heard him He is an earnest and faithful preacher of the Word T A Wilburn came up from the Furnas county ranch and was with the family over Sunday He is adding to his ranch dwelling house and the family will remain here until the first of the month when it will be ready for occupancy and WILLOW COUNTY NEBRASKA FRIDAY EVENING NOVEMBER 10 1905 Passed Away Full of Years Mrs Mary Crockford mother of Mrs C H Barrett died on Sunday morning of this week aged 89 years Services were held in the Methodist church Monday afternoon conducted by Rev M B Carman after which the remains were laid away in Riverview cemetery Deceased was perhaps the oldest resi dent of this county and was one of the early settlers of the county Mary Friday was born near Canton in Stark county Ohio February 7 1816 hence would have been ninety years old in February She was united in mar riage with Joseph Crockford in Ohio in 1840 Of the eight children born to them six are still living Henry and Joseph in Michigan William in River sioux Iowa Jacob in Hooker county Nebraska who was present at the funer al Elizabeth in Cleveland Iowa Mrs C H Barrett of our city Deceased lived in MichiganOhio Illinois Iowa Kansas Nebraska most of the time in Michigan Her father was a soldier in the Revolutionary war and her husband and two sons were in the Civil war She was an invalid and great sufferer during the closing fifteen years of her life and bedfast for the past year She was for almost three quarters of a century a de vout member of the Methodist church K of P Bistrlct Meeting The members of McCook lodgiNo 42 K of P are feeling finer than silk over their district meeting Wednesday even ing of this week About fifty members of the order wen present and a grand time was had viewed from every point of consideration The principal address of the evening was that of Grand Chancellor Comman der Magney of Omaha who covered the ground of modern Pythianism fully and magnificently Past Grand Chancellor Commander Kelley of Omaha and Past Grand Chancellor Commander Kildow of York Grand Keeper of Records and Seal Will Love of Lincoln and District Deputy Meyer of Alma also added to the sum total of pleasure and profit of the gathering bpth at the business ses sion and at the following banquet The banquet was spread in the Gan schow hall by the ladies of the cassociety of the Congregational church It was entirely in keeping witi the tra ditions of the society in every feature It was a bountiful
