A New Public School Building-
It is now quite definitely settled that
people of McCoolc will be confronted
with the necessity of voting on a propo
sition to issue bonds for a now public
school building coming spring election
The school board is now considering the
matter though the details as to cost etc
have not yet been determined
The question is still open of course
as to whether the new building shall be
an exclusive high school building or for
general school purposes and this matter
will likely be considered by the voters of
the city in passing upon the proposition
to vote bonds
It may- also be considered what the
cost shall be Whether a completed
building shall be erected or whether a
building shall be erected up to t h e
present amount the city can vote for
that purpose with provision made to
complete the building or to add in the
future
The people of McCook may well take
these and other questions in this con
nection into consideration and discus
sion The erection of a suitable public
school building for the growing demands
of the city of McCook should be matter
of a large and active city pride
It may be added that the board of
education has advanced the possibility
of building a new school building by
buying and retiring 85000 worth of the
old issue of S12000 bonds which do not
become due for two years While it was
necessary to pay a premium for the
bonds the emergency warrants fully the
expenditure

Matters of Municipal Moment
At the monthly meeting of the Mc
Cook commercial club Tuesday evening
several matters of municipal moment
were considered chief among them be
ing the sewer question and the proposed
new public school building
On the sewer question definite action
was taken to the effect that a committee
composed of the president A Barnett
Congressman Norris and W T Cole
man was selected to appear before the
meeting of the city council on next
Monday evening and convey to them
the expressed wish and action of the
commercial club favoring the calling of
an election in the near future for the
purpose of voting on a proposition to
issue bonds for the building of a main
outlet sewer It was the unanimous
expression of the members of tne club
present that McCook most urgently
needed sewer facilities and that the
time is now propitious for the voting of
bonds for that purpose
It is the wish of the commercial club
to be able to do something practical and
beyond the talk period for the city and
at the regular monthly meetings of the
club on the second Tuesday evenings of
each month it is hoped the members
will devote at least that one night each
month to being present at the sessions
of the club and to the discussion pre
sentation and origination of pertinent
matters for the citys good The para
mount question just now is the sewer
question There are many improve
ments that McCook cannot hope to se
cure until sne has an adequate sewer
system
