It is said that an engine board show
ing the condition of the motive power on
the lines west of the river has been or
dered for the office of the superintendent
of motive power of this city These
boards show at a glance the condition of
the motive power of the system The
board is divided off by divisions on the
up and down columns while the hori
zontal divisions show the condition of
each engine Along the board in rows
are holes and pegs numbered with fig
ures corresponding to the numbers of en
gines These pegs are inserted in the
holes through pieces of cardboard of dif
ferent colors i he colors indicating the
condition ot tuo engine w mle very
simple the board is a study in complete
ness and the extent of information which
it shows and it will prove of much value
to the employes of the superintendent of
motive powers office Besides showing
the location of each engine and the con
dition of each in another division this
board shows the engines in the shops
and those awaiting entrance to the
