Amateurish Attempted Hold Up
Last Sunday night an amateur at
tempted to hold up Harry Woolard
uight clerk in the Palmer hotel The
clerk had just shown a guest -to his
room and lain down on the cot he occupies
back of the counter when he was arous
ed Being sleepy he mechanically turn
ed the hotel register around for the
supposed guest to sign his name In
stead the man presented a revolver at
Harrys head and commanded him to
dig up Then Harry noted the fact that
fhe man was masked As Harry always
removes the money from the drawer
when he lies down to sleep he toldthe
hold up he did not have any money
that the day clerk always took the money
when he went off duty The holcUjrp
inquired for the day clerks whereabouts
and after going through the money
i drawer and securing nothing departed
asleasurely as he had made his entrance
The description Harry gave of the in
dividual seems to tally somewhat with
tha description given Marshal Gray of a
thief who operated in eastern Colorado
recently of whom J J S Harvey just
ice of tho peace Burdette Colorado
writes as follows
Burdette Colo December 23 1901
City Marshal McCoolc Neb Dear Sir

had a pair of blue overalls made by Un
derbill of Denver that he may have on

So much nonsence is written about the
balanced ration in feeding live stock
that it is refreshing to read the common
sense statement of -The Feeders
Problem in the current issue of The
Iowa Homestead by Andrew Boss the
well known live stock expert of Min
nesota Agricultural College Mr Boss
shows that if a steer is fretting about
anything or uncomfortable from any
cause the most scientific ration in the
world will produce unsatisfactory gains
He points out the fact that the feeder
must be a man of resources and judg
ment and have an intuitive knowledgeof
and sympathy with the animal he is
feeding We hearth wish that every
one of the hundreds of readers of The
McCook Tribune could read Prof Bosss
splendid article and every one of the
series of articles by agricultural experts
