to these annual gatherings be lioving that the esprit de corps of the alumni haB much to do with the success of a school even of tho high school grado This was the fourth annual celebration and about 50 mombtrs of the alumni participated despite the houvy rainstorm which prevailed during the early part of tho oveniug and made it impossible for quito a number to attend The east ward school building was the scene of tho occasion Tho assembly room was converted into a reception room and rendered attractive and cosy with a generous use of furniture rugs curtains palms ferns cut flowers red bunting etc observing as far ns possible the class color scheme of red green and white Tho banquet was served by tho ladies of the Dorcas society of the Congrega tional church in tho eighth grado room just across tho hall It was a three courso luncheon of very satisfactory de tails The table was handsomely spread The decorations woro in class colors red aud white roses being most in evidence with 1904 at five oclock Mr Holton Long necker of Rollinsville Colo and Miss Daisy Jackson of McCook Neb were united in marriage by the Rev Vosburg of tho First Baptist church of Denver Colo Th bride was attired in a pretty gown of champagne cloth trimmed in light blue and carried white carnations Following the ceremony the bridal party was entertained at a two course luncheon at the home of friends They will reside in Rollinsville Colo where the groom is successfully encaged in the drug business Both bride aud groom are too well known and highly esteemed in this city and county to warrant a word from The Tribune other than that of congratula tion md well wishing May happiness and prosperity be their lot in life Fireman Jacob Matz Married Tuesday May 31st at the home of Engineer and Mrs W C Schenck Fireman Jacob Matz and Miss Lizzie Sturgeon were united in niarriase Rev C R Betts officiating about twenty friends witnessing the ceremony and J R Bucknell and Miss Beulah Lesser standing up with the contracting parties The young people were generously re membered by their friends w th gifts of worth and usefulness A dainty lunch eon was served after the ceremony The happy peoplo departed on No 3 same night for Denver on a short wedding trip They will make their home in our city Paul Millers House Burnea Tuesday morning about five oebek Paul Millers dwelling in West McCook was entirely destroyed by fire which is thought to have been of incendiary ori gin The house and contents wore insured in the amount of 100000 Mr Millers family are at present visiting in Sutton Mr Miller works nights and did not arrive at the home until every thing was practically destroyed Were Flood Losers at Fort Collins The Tribune is sorry to learn that Z O Holcomb and family were quite heavy losers by the flood of a few weeks since at FortCollins and other Colorado points They had just recently become purchas ers of a home and nine lots and about everything was swept away by the flood but the home happiness in prosperous Wilsonville Memorial Sunday at St Patricks At 10 oclock last Sunday morning St Patricks Catholic church was crowded for the memorial services preceding Dec oration day At the hour appointed the members of J K Barnes post and of the Ladies circle followed the colors from the post room to the church and the services of the morning then commenced There was tho usual high mass with a large choir of selected voices Mrs P M Appel of Cheyenne Wyoming was tho soloist of the service rendering a difficult Avo Maria from Shakespeares Othello most effectively and feelingly The sermon by Rev J J Loughran was a patriotic worthy efFort and met with the approval of nil irrespective of creed He paid the veterans of the G A R a deserved tribute and held up their work as an example for the coming generation The collection taken was devoted to tho paying of the expenses of Decora tion day Flags bunting flowers potted plants the pictures of Lincoln Grant McKin ley and Logan were among the decora tions The service was altogether a notable one McCook Junior Normal School Applications are already coming in from teachers expecticg to attend the session of the Junior Normal School and the indications are that the attend ance will be large Ample provision must be made to care for them when they arrive The committee having the schools affairs in charge will put some one in tho field at once to learn of all available rooming and boarding places there are in town They desire to know where rooms ale ne can bo secured whore board alone can be secured and where board and room can be had together Many of the visiting teachers will de sire to do light housekeeping and those who have rooms adapted to this pur pose will confer a favor by making the fact known A few inquiries have been written in as to whether it will be possi ble to secure work in payment for teach ers board through tho summer The committee is especially anxious to sup ply citizens with enough business men and others at tended the meeting in the court house Tuesday evening to consider the matter of securing sewerage for McCook As a result of the deliberations a committee composed of Congressman Norris J E Kelley and G E Thompson was ap pointed to draft resolutions setting forth the wishes of the people in the matter for presentation before the city council for action It was the expressed desire of those present that action favorable to the sewerage proposition be taken The committee will prepare a plan and the matter will then come up before the council for action Wedded in Lincoln Thursday Supt George H Thomas of our city schools and Miss Blanche McCarl of our city were united in marriage at the tem porary home of the brides mother in Lincoln Thursday of this week The
