of labor will shortly issue the results of
an exhaustive study of the increased
ci st of living during the last few years
in relation to the increase of wages
The results show that there is a striking
similarity between the advance in
wages and in the increased cost of living
and that neither has gone forward as
much as popularly supposed The cur
rent report that commodities have ad
vanced 27 per cent is shown to be wide
of the mark It will be nearer 15 or 17
per cent

Mr and Mrs S B Rowe returned
Tuesday evening from their visit in
Iowa They had a nice visit but were
glad to get home Mr Rowe says the
crops in eastern and central Iowa are
poor except hay which is a large crop

Keeley died Tuesday evening of whoop
ing cough The funeral services took
place Thursday morning
Rev Johnson stopped off between
trains here last Friday and visited with
friends He goes to Colorado where he
will preach the coming year
E B Crippen preached two fine and
instructive sermons at the M E church
Sunday We think we are fortunate in
securing him for the coming year
Rev Martin and family departed for
theii new home in Stratton last Satur
day evening Rev Martin will preach
at Stratton and Trenton the coming
year
Mrs John Welborn accompanied by
her son Robert left for Pueblo Colo
last Friday where Robert will enter a
hospital for treatment Mrs Welborn
will stay with him for a period
