on account of the illness of his wife Conductor L S Watson has the 42 meanwhile Trainmaster Kenyon arrived home Wednesday night from Lincoln where he has been assisting in getting out the new time card Conductor W W Webster who has been with the company since 1895 has resigned from the train service and will go to Billings Montana The blacksmiths and boilermakers had a warm game last Saturday afternoon the blacksmiths winning by a score of 11 to 10 in a ten inning game LFPowell is laid up with a fractured left leg sustained while unloading lum ber in the yard here recently but is progressing favorably toward recovery Frank Green of the blacksmith force was mixed up in a runaway Saturday evening and has been off duty part of the week on account of a sprained knee Fire ladders are being provided and other fire apparatus placed in position and the fire regulations promulgated in May will be more closely enforced in the future The shop team and the high school boys will play Sunday night and Harry went on home to Alma on a short visit The boys ran an engine into the round house close of last week which was only working on one side She was hard to spot and poked her nose through the stone wall before they could stop her It is estimated that over a thousand carloads of beets will be shipped to the Grand Island and Ames factories from points west of McCook this fall and Wil low county is hereby called to meet in conven tion at tho court house in tho city of McCook on Saturday August 13 1903 at 11 oclock a m for the purpose of placing in nomination candi dates for the following oflices to bo voted for at the next general election to held on the 3rd day of November 190 to wit One county judge one clerk of tho district court one sheriff one coroner one county treas urer one county clerk ono county survejor one county superintendent of public instruction one county assessor one county commissioner for the second commissioner district eight del egates to the Peoples Independent Party state convention delegates to the Fourteenth judicial convention and for the transaction of such other business as may regularly come before the convention The basis of representation of the several precincts shall be tho vote cast for Hon John H Powers for secretary of state at Jhe general election held in the j ear 1902 giving one delegate for each 15 votes or fraction thereof so cast for the said John H Powers and ono dele gate at largo for each precinct in tho county Said apportionment entitles the several vot ing precincts to the following representation
