The Royal Neighbors expect to pre sent a play in the near future Mrs A C Teel was in McCook on business a few days last week Jim McClung Jr attended the horse and cattle show in Denver last week Miss Maud Allen went up to McCook Sunday evening to spend a week or two John McClung has moved his confec tionery store into the old Courier build ing Rob Gotschall of near Danbury has taken Everett Toogoods place in the mill S R Smith was in the eastern part of the state on business a few days this week George Wyrick and family have mov ed back to tl fnrm north east of town - Mr and Mrs Leitchfield left for Cana da Sunday morning after a brief stay in our city Miss Bercha Ough closed a successful term of school in the Quigley district last Friday A doctor was called from Denver Sun day to attend Robert Welborn who is still seriously ill Orson Lee has moved from the Bell property to the house formerly occupied by John McClung Will Sheppard stopped off here Sun day on his way from Danbury to his home in McCook The Capital barber shop will hold sway in the building formerly occupied by John McClung The north barber shop has again changed hands The present owners name is Mr Scholtz Dave Kirkman and family moved from the Ough place on the creek to a farm north east of town last week Miss Jeanette Short and Miss Hazel Phillips spent last Sunday with Miss Forrest Harrison east of town John Russell finished drilling a well for Jim Donnelly and one for Mr Pro bosco north of town last week Albert Clark and family left for Hend ley Monday- where they will still work for Powell James Miller accompanied them James Donnelly who has been living on the Fritsch place has bought a place north east of town and is building thereon The engineer and miller at the flour mill struck for higher wages Saturday evening The request was granted to tho miller A Mr Coon and family have moved their household goods to the Joe Har rison farm west of town and will work for Joe this coming season Mr and Mrs E J Mitchell of Mc Cook and Mrs Evans Mr Mitchells sister and husband of Missouri were visiting friends in Indianola Tuesday Charlie King has moved to the Wel born farm from C S Quicks place where he has been for the last five or six years Dan Jennings will work for Quick A guitar club consisting of Miss Stella McCool Edith Smith Katie Keohlin Milo Ough and Reuben Finch with Mrs Prof Casner as instructor has been organized and meets every Wed nesday evening Jesse Welborn and family left Wed nesday for their new home in Trenton Missouri Mr Welborn went with the car and Mrs Welborn and Georgie went to McCook to catch No 14 Our best best wishes go with them to their new home A number of young people spent a pleasant evening at the home of G W Short last Friday evening The gather ing was a farewell party to Miss George Welborn who leaves the last of the week with her parents for her new home in Missouri R B Lewis of the section gang took Tragedy Averted Jnst lonesome all day with a few others and has not been heard from since Several of the mer chants in town are pretty much interest ed in him at present The poverty social given at tho Wood man hall last Friday evening was not very well attended on account of the ex cessive cold weather but those present report a good time In tho decorations rag carpets took the place of portieres nail kegs were appropriated for chairs and gunny sacks for window curtains and those who went dressed for the oc casion all attempted to carry out tho poverty plan as intended Prizes were promised to the one best
