Two Cars of Cattle Derailed
Tuesday morning about half past eight
oclock as fast freight No 76 was coming
into the yard at this place from the west
the sixth and seventh cars from the rear
were derailed and overturned near the
west section house Both cars as well
as most of the cars composing the train
were loaded with fat cattle and two of
the cows were killed outright a third
being so badly injured that it had to bo
killed The wreck was caused by the
rear truck of one of the cars taking a
side track at a split switch The track
was torn up for a short distance and
both cars wore badly smashed up No
one was hurt The train was moving
t
slowly or the damage might have been
heavy
Gangs of men at once released the
prisoned animals removed the wreckage
and repaired the track so that there
was practically no delay of traffic the
north side track being clear Yard
switching was somewhat delayed
It was a fortunate accident as to time
place and results
Gobble Gobble Gobble
A farmer brought a wagon load of
turkeys to town last Friday and in the j
process of unloading the same it was dis
covered that eleven of the birds had
been smothered to death in transit
The deceased gobblers were thrown out
and aside and in a due time Shorty
Hosier happened along in his dray and
took on the entiro cargo which he at
tempted to dispose of by sale
Chief of Police Gray gatheredShorty
in and placed him on the tender mercy
of Police Juuge Befry who figured it
out that Shortys little joke would
cost him justS955 including fine and
costs The little affair threw a distinct
gloom over Shortys Thanksgiving
festivities

in addition to the distinctively religious
publications

tested the system are most gratifying
It is the intention of the Union to send
to our teachers a monthly journal known
as the School Physiology Journal
This magazine has the lessons of each

to interest the pupil
The ladies present besides the corps
of teachers were Mesdames Northrup
