Burlingtons California Service
The Burlington announces that effec
tive Tuesday November 5 and each
Tuesday thereafter a personally con
ducted through tourist sleeping car ex
cursion will be run from Chicago to
Los Angeles via Kansas City over the
Burlington via its Southern Nebraska
line from Kansas City to Denver This
car will leave Kansas City Wednesdays
at 140 a m reaching Denver the fol
lowing morning and leave there at 830
running via the Colorado Midland Rio
Grande Western and Southern Pacific
reaching San Francisco Saturday at
425 p m and -Los Angeles Sunday at
110 p m
This excursion is in addition to the
personally conducted excursion which
leaves Kansas City over the Burlington
route Thursdays at 1040 a m running
via Denver the Denver -Rio Grande
Rio Grande Western and Southern Pa
cific This new service givesHhe Burl
ington personally conducted excursions
twice a week to California without
change
The new spur or double track on the
Burlington road south of Fort Crook
and just west and north of the little
station ofPapio is about Teady for the
rails A new bridge will be built across
thePapio river fifty feet south of the old
bridge on the main line In addition to
putting in the new double track the
Burlington has improved the roadbed
between the point where it leaves the
Union Pacific line below South Omaha
and LaPlatte Heavy rails havebeen
substituted for the light ones Nearly
the entire distance has been ballasted
with slag which means a hard level
