What puny rot
The selection of Republican state nom
inees was particularly happy this year-
Judge Sedgwick of York is one of the
ablest lawyers of integrity in the state
and the nominees for regents L H Goold
and C J Ernst are recognized as men
of business who are deeply and actively
concerned in educational affairs Noth
ing can be urged against any of them as
a bar to their success No effort should
be spared to make their pluralities safe
and adequate
The American Sugar Refining com
pany is evidently aiming a jealous selfish
blow at the American Beet Sugar Co
and the west by making a cut of over
one cent a pound on refined sugar the
cut being in force only in the section of
country which produces beet sugar
thus disclosing the animus of their phi
lanthropy Nebraska and the west are
deeply concerned in the culture of sugar
beets and the increased production of
beet sugar and any effort to crush out of
this promising enterprise should receive
prompt and adequate attention by west
ern congressmen
