week.
Kobeit Campbell of Friend made a flying
trip to Hex lilder to be in attendance at his
mother's funeral.
William Walters , after an extended trip to
Southern Kansas , has teturned to Ins old
haunts here , well satisfied with South-Western
Nebraska.
The many friends of Mrs. P. A. Brewer ,
while awaiting developments in her disease
with much anxiety , are still encouraged to
hope for her ultimate recovery.
Mrs. A. W. Campbell , for many years a res
ident ol Box Elder , after many months of pa
tient buffering , passed away Friday evening ,
Nov. 30. The funeral services were held at
the M. 1C. church here and conducted by Rev.
II. 11. Kerry ol McCooK. A large congrega
tion gathered to pay the last sad tribute of af
fection and respect to an old friend and
neighbor.

Al Kenjamin was in McCook , Monday , and
brought out a load of feed.
A petition is being circulated in this road
district to provide for filling old wells on
abandoned land , several of which are quite
deep and dangerous.

Lloyd is expected soon.

we have what in society is called a function.

Mrs. William Schmid has bought the farm
of George W. Kimpton , paying $800 for it.
Land is dirt cheap here.
Frank Moore attended court , two days last
week , being a witness in the land case be

Local school ma'ams look upon the county
superintendent as an example. This is right ;
but it may make trouble if all get mairied
right away.

Chas. Parsons of Culbertson made a flying

ed moustache and that his friends hardly
ecognize him.
Literary societies are being organized all
round over the country ; one has been runn-
ng at the i'rospect Park school-house for
ometime past , and now comes the informa-
ion that the old successful society at Pleasant
lidge will be reorganized , Friday evening ,
December 7 ; and coupled with this informa-
ion is a very generous invitation to all to at-
end.
