T. J. Parsons and W. H. Epperly have re
turned from Madison county , Iowa , where
they each purchased forty acres of improved
land.
Considerable alfalfa and wild hay is being
marketed at McCook.
There was a man in these paitP , last week ,
who bought up a car-load of young steers
which he shipped.

INDIANOLA.
A. C. Teel was a visitor of the county's
metropolis , Saturday last.
C. M. Goben. Frank Fritsch , A. C. Crab-
tree , Henry Crabtree , Willis Gossard , W. P.
Elmer of Indianola lodge No. 123 , participated
in the Masonic event in Cambridge , Tuesday
evening of this week , which is described as
having been one of the grandest affairs ever
seen in Masonic circles of the Republican
valley. Robert Rankin of Cambridge was
given the third degree in Masonry , the work
being splendidly given by G. S. Bishop and
members of McCook lodge No. 135. A superb
banquet was served in the opera-house by the
ladies of Cambridge , 136 plates being laid. It
was in every particular an entrancing event.
It Happened , in a Drug Store.

Politics is on the wane since "Teddy" has
come and gone.
Sunday school and preaching , last Sunday ,
and a large turn-out reported.
\V. S. Fitch was a Cambridge visitor , last
Friday , takng in one day of the reunion.
Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Stone were Frontier
county visitors , the latter part of last and fore
part of tins week.
L. A. Fitch left for Oxford on 2 , last Friday
morning , for a short business visit before le-
turning to his home in Oklahoma.
A Republican caucus will be held in Drift
wood school-house , Saturday , October 13. at
8 p. m. for the purpose of nominating precinct
officers.
Those of this vicinity who heard Senator
Allen's eloquent address , last Saturday eve
ning , weie greatly disappointed ; they ex
pected to hear a talk upon the issues of the
day and instead they listened to nothing more
than a string of abuse of President McKinley
in particular and the Republicans in general.

Dr. W. A. DeMay and daughter , Miss Nan
nie , drove over to the county capital , Monday ,
to hear and see "The Noble Outcast" as pre
sented by the Colson Stock Co. They re
turned home , the same night. F. L. and Jen
nie Ilendershot were also in the party. Mrs.
DeMay is now visiting in her old Iowa home ,
after an absence of 27 years.

J. W. Corner , left Thursday , for Iowa , to
visit a few weeks. This is his lirst visit back
since coming here a little over sixteen years
ago. We hope he may thoroughly enjoy it.

ball , Saturday , the bat slipped out of Charlie
Simmerman's hands and went sailing through
