The car-tink force has been reduced six this week. Mrs. T. F. Enright was a Hastings visitor on last Friday. There has been a slight reduction in the night force this week. Conductor W. H. Brown was a Has tings visitor , Friday last. Will Bulger is rapidly recovering from his attack of pneumonia. Machinist Dole spent Saturday and Sunday with friends in Bartley. Mrs. E. M. Cox went up to Trenton , Wednesday night , on a short visit. L. W. Stayner has been under the weather with a severe cold , part of the week. Chief Engineer Holmes Blair was up from Lincoln , first of the week , on busi ness of his office. . Chief Dispatcher Forbes went down to Lincoln , Tuesday evening , to have the new time card for this division printed. C. T. Watson left , last evening , for Lin coln on a short visit to E. E. Magee , who was formerly connected with the schools here. Mrs. Bodine , of Hastings , aunt of Will Bulger , made him a short visit last week. Ida McCarl accompanied her home for a short visit. Miss Mamie Tomlinson came up from Oxford , last Friday night , and has been the guest of her brother , W. S. Tomlin son , all week. She will return home to morrow night. The new fast trains to go into effect on the Burlington , Sunday , have been the talk of the town , this week. Surely from the railroad man's standpoint , prosperity is here. Mrs. H. C. Brown went down to Hold- rege , last Friday night , and has been visiting her parents , Conductor and Mrs. A. D. Green , this week. Mrs. J. Howard came up from Has tings , last Friday night , and remained a few days nursing her brother , Will Bul ger , who is now rapidly recovering from a serious attack of pneumonia. Mrs. J. C. Birdsell went to Kansas City Tuesday , to consult with a prominent specialist for nervous trouble. She was accompanied by her sister , Miss Wick- ham. They may be gone for a few days , and they may be gone a month , owing entirely to circumstances.-Alliance Grip. The new blacksmith shop , just east of the round house , looms up in fine shape. This building when completed will be quite an addition to the company's plant at this place , which is gradually assum ing very considerable proportions. This shop will be very much larger than the old quarters , and besides will have many conveniences not now enjoyed in that department. The net earnings of the Burlington system for the month of December were $49SI73 an increase of $21,530 over the same month of last year. For the months from the first of July to Decem ber 31 , the net earnings of the system show an increase of $1,559,555 over the same months of the preceding fiscal year. For the year which ended March 31 , iSoj , the Rock Island earned 3 % per cent on its capital stock. One extra passenger crew will be put in service by the new trains , Sunday. Conductor J. H. Burns and crew went down to Hastings , last night , to take charge of President Perkin's special train , which is going over the Western division , this week. Revision of Time Card. Train No 1 will depart from Chicago on its west-bound journey at 10 a. m. , leaving Omaha at 11:55 P- mtne prin cipal stops and time of departure will be as follows : Lincoln 1:20 a.m. , Hastings 3:55 : a. m. , Kenesaw 4:27 a. m. , Holdrege 5:19 : a. m. , and McCook 6:30 a. in. , arriv ing at Denver at 1:30 in the afternobn. No. 6 will leave Denver for the east at 10 a.m. , McCook at 5:22 : p.m. , Hastings 8:50 p. m. , Lincoln 11:19 p. m. , Platts- mouth 12:42 : a. m. , and Pacific Junction at 12:55 : a. m. Chicago will be reached at 2:15 p. m. . The two through tratns will cross the Missouri river at Plattsmouth on the company's own bridge. The running time of Nos. 2 and 3 will not be subjected to any material change. Both will run in and out of Lincoln in accordance with the card now in effect. Under the new card No. 2 will make more local stops between Denver and Hastings and less between Hastings and Lincoln than at present. No. 3 will make a few local stops west of McCook , but its time of arrival at Denver 7:30 a. m. will be identical with the present card. The arrival and departure of west bound Nov 5 , the morning train , at Lin coln , will be as at present. This train , however , will be cancelled at McCook. Previous to its arrival at the latter point the time card will not be disturbed. Train No. 4 , instead of starting at Denver , will be made up at McCook. It will leave at 3:20 : p. m. On arriving at Hastings at 8:20 p. m. , the train will be cancelled and passengers for the east will be transferred to the through train , No. 6 , which will leave thirty minutes later.
