Owners of dogs are requested to call at the office of the city clerk at once and pay tax on their dogs. The circular recently issued b } ' Post master General Wilson drawing the lines closely about all railway mail has had the effect of causing the railroads to look closely into the matter and to see that no violations of the postal provis ions are permitted. There are two cus toms that will have to go : The ex change of railroad mail from one road to another , and the sending of personal letters by one employe of a road to an other employe in envelopes marked "R. R. B. " To guard against any such abuses Gen eral Manager Holdrege of the B. & M. has issued the following circular : "Under the United States postal reg ulations we are permitted to carry free , as train mail , only such letters , papers and other ducuments as relate to the business of this railroad. .It is impor tant that no personal letters of employes or any other mail matter than that spec ified as above shall be carried as 'R.R.B. It is stated that some sleeping quarters may be fitted up in the Baldrldge brick when the dining hall and other buildings at the depot are completed. A new style of stock cars is being in troduced. The cars are 36 feet long , and quite a few are already in use. There are to be 2,000 put in service. George Burnett , the popular B. & M. passenger brakeman , was visiting rela tives and friends at this place , Wednes day. Cambridge Kaleidoscope. A special car was attached to No. 5 , Tuesday evening , containing the cele brated Chicago criminal lawyer , A. S. Trude , and party , bound for the moun tains. Francis Enlow has been appointed agent of the B. & . . M. station at Heart- well. His many friends at this place will be glad to hear of his promotion. Oxford Standard. It is reported on good authority that the Burlington system will declare dividends at the rate of 4 per cent for the next two quarters , and that after that an increase in the dividends may be expected. Postmaster General Wilson has decided that railroads cannot carry each others "R.R.B. " postal'matter. . Such business must be confined to the respective sys tems.
