Magner and the children departed , Monday evening on 2 , for Chicago and other Illinois points on on a visit. J. H. Christner of Hayes Center at tended the senatorial committee meeting in this city , Wednesday evening , as a proxy for Ira Cole of Culbertson. Rev. L. P. Ludden came up from Lincoln , Wednesday , on business con nected with the proposed sale of the Lutheran church building to the Baptist people. NEED ENCOURAGEMENT. The McCook Athletic Club and their l jew Racing Track. When the McCook Athletic club have completed the work so thoroughly and well begun on the new bicycle track they will have one of the best quarter- mile tracks in the state. The boys have already invested quite a sum of money in the track and the substantial grand stand beside it , and it will require a good many more dollars to place every thing in first-class shape as the members of the club propose. They should be encouraged in this work in a substantial manner by all lovers of the wheel , who on account of its nearness to the city will be enabled to enjo } ' its benefits and advantages. We hope to see the club succeed and the track brought up to a high state of excellence. County Endeavor Society Picnic. The societies of Christian Endeavor of Red Willow county will hold a picnic at Red Willow in the Miller grove on Sat urday , July 11. A good time will be had. Prof. J. F. Hosic and others will be pres ent. Come with well filled baskets and enjoy a day with the Endeavorers. All are cordially invited. Pay Your Dog Tax. Owners of dogs are requested to call at the office of the city clerk at once and pay tax on their dogs. Grandma Fane , mother of Mrs. C. M. Bailey , had the misfortune to fall , Tues day , and break one of her arms. Al though the old lady is rather feeble and well along in years she is getting on quite nicely with her painful injury. A Neat Literary Performance. Quite an interesting literary and mus ical programme was rendered on the lawn at Samuel Strasser's residence on Tuesday evening , by the young members of the family , their visitors and others.
