A Women's A. P. A. was organized in
this city on Wednesday afternoon , with
a memhershipof a score or so , with Mrs.
Howe Smith as first president.
The instituting o2icers were Mrs.
Hurtzman of Omaha , state president ;
and Mrs. Hoff of Omaha , vice state
president.
Addresses were also made by State
President Kelley and Prof. Torn Wilkinson -
kinson of our city.
Now , we plain , every-day American
citizens can take a long breath with im-
punity. The country is doubly safe.

Petition of B. F. Sibbett et al. asking that
R. S. Baker be appointed justice of the peace
for Indianola precinct , read and on motion R.
S. Baker was appointed justice of the peace for
Indianola precinct to fill vacancy.

In the matter of the establislunent of a

On motion the donation and proposition of
James C. Oakley is accepted.
On motion James C. Oakley is appointed to
operate and superintend the poor house of
Red Willow county forone year from this date ,
unless sooner removed by the county commissioners -
sioners of said county' .
On motion it is ordered that the county com-
nrissioners of Red \Villo ; county enter into a
contract with James C. Oakley for the operation -
tion of the poor house of said county and for
the care and maintenance of the inmates of
said poor house ; whereupon an agreement
was made and entered into , by and between
Red \Villow county and James C. Oakley.
It appearing from the petition of J. 11.
Lewis , Charles Ilarrison et a ! . , and upon clue
Investigation the board find that the public
good demands it , and upon motion the following -
ing road is established and opened :
Commencing at northeast corner of section
26 , town. 2 , range 27 , running thence south to
the southeast corner of section 35 , town. 2 ,
range 27 , and terminating thereat. Clerk directed -
rected to notify overseer of highway to open
the same , also to notify land owners along
line of said road to file claims for damages on
or before April 15 , 1896 , caused to said land
by reason of the location of said road.
On motion it is ordered and hereb entered
of record that Rcd 1C'illow county has established -
lished a poor house and that said poor house
is now rad } y for the reception of te poor of
said county.
On motion it is further ordered , that in the
matter of the poor of Red Willow county ,
that no allowance be made by this hoard for
the care and maintenance of such poor , unless
such poor shall be inmates of the county poor
house , or they shall have been confided to the
care of some discreet householder of the
county by the county commissioners , as provided -
vided by law ; that the clerk is hereby directed
t0 notify each justice of the peace in the county -
ty- , and publish notice in newspapers.
It appearing to the board that the personal
property of L. J. Holland in the year 1839 ,
was erroneously taxed in Indianola city when
it should have een taxed in Indianola pre-
duct , on motion the clerk was directed to correct -
rect the error.
It also appearing that the southwest ; ,
section :5 , town. 3 , range 2S , in IS94 was erroneously -
neously taxed in school district 2 , when it
should have been taxed in district i , clerk was
directed to correct the error.
On motion board adjourned to meet March
17 , 896.
