W Josselyn of Or leans had business at western division headquarters , Monday evening. Roadmaster C. A. Parsons of Akron was in town , Monday evening , on business - ness with headquarters officials. Operator Hughes is manipulating the Republican City key. Operator Douglass has been transferred to Bloomington. Trainpiaster J F. Kenyon spent the early daysof the week down on the Sunflower - flower branches , on a trip of inspection Conductor and Mrs. S E. Callen received - ceived a promising girl baby as a New Year gift. They regard the gift as price. less. Mrs. David Magner is just home from a visit to Palmer , Ravenna and other Nebraska points , during the holiday season. E. Hanson , claim agent , arrived home froni Illinois , fore part of the week. The wife and son will remain a few weeks longer. Conductors Moeucii and McClure and their crews have been helping down bn the Sunflower branches , for the past week or so. Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Tomblin and F. F Tomblin were up from Bartley over New Year , guests of Chief Dispatcher and Mrs. J , F. Forbes. The hot water service in Conductor Frank Kendlen's home froze and bursted during the recent absence of the family over Christmas , and Frank commenced the new year with at least one new resolution - lution , Miss Maggie Vaughn , who has been visiting with the family of Supt. J. R Plielan for the past three weeks , departed - parted for McCook , Sunday night , to visit with her sister , Mrs. A Campbell , -Alliance Grip. G. H. During his lay offs Christ will probably serve an apprenticeship - ticeship to learning how to lather and shampoo.-Republican City Democrat. By unexpected circumstances , our of townsman H. F. Harman wits detained in Oxford , Tuesday. The dry previou he started out on the Denver Pacific junction express run , but was taken ill and obliged to leave his carat this place. It was the intention of the company to assign him to the main line , but he will ask for a shorter run , and will probably do service between McCook and Imperial - perial after January 1st. In that event it is presumed of course that he will make his home at the former place.- Oxford Standard. The superintendent of motive power has ordered a change in the plans of the last two engines of class K pattern out of the eight originally ordered built at the Havelocl : shops. The style of the engines will differ from the others only in the shape of the boiler , the result being - ing an increase in boiler capacity without - out makingany material change in the size of the engine. The fourth of the class K engines will he completed early next week and the three already finished are doing such splendid service on the road that the ability of the Havelock 4hops to eonst urt locomotives fully up to the standard in every particular has been conclusively proven.-Journal.
