Saturday evening last , a pleasant party gathered at the home of Miss Lillian Welborn and enjoyed her i hospitality until toward Sunday. Treasurer and Mrs. Meserve went up to McCook , Wednesday morning , tlrii former on some county - ty , business , the latter on a visit. Thursday evening of this week , the Y. P. S. C. ' E. church , Saturday - urday evening last , and on Sunday evening occupied the pulpit in Rev. Craago's place. It seems to be regarded as set- tied that J. A. Hammond will be R . A. Green's deputy and J. H. Bay- ston C. G. Boatman's deputy. Both will make competent and obliging deputies. Lawyer Morlan was in town , Tuesday , appearing before the county commissioners in behalf of the county clerk in the excess fee matter , which , we understand , will go into the courts for final .adju- dication. Rev. Enright , who has been conducting - ducting a Catholic mission here , has concluded his labors. His eve- fling lectures at Beardslee's opera house have been well attended , the past week , by Catholics and Protestants - estants alike. W bile out riding , Tuesday , Miss Vivian Gossard was tliro vn from the buggy and fell under the horse's hoofs. She was compelled to be absent from school , Monday , in consequence. but is again at 1 work with the children. Thursday evening of last week , Frank Strout of the Leland left for Sidney , this state , where he will have charge of the Episcopal church. Mr. Strout is a man of excellent capacities and ought to be successful in his new sphere. J. B. Mather. who has been vis- - itiug his parents here for a time , left on Monday evening for Wis- consin. Mr. Mather has been spending the past six months in Montana and Washington and does not bring back a very glowing account - count of those states. Miss Helen Byrne , teacher of the first primary department of the Indianola schools , is quite sick. Clara Happersett of the eleventh grade in the high school has been taking her place efficiently. Miss Byrne has worked too hard for the little ones and needs rest. . PROSPECT PARK. W. G. Dutton and son Ray are home from the sand hills. Harry Wade and wife took dinner - ner with Eugene Dunham's last Sunday. J. Hammond was over in Rawlins - lins county Kansas , a few days last week. Miss Hattie Burns from Ash creek visited her sister , Miss Ada and other friends , past week. School began in Prospect Park , after a vacation of three weeks , with Miss Anna Hill as teacher. Harry Wade came home from Kansas , where he has been work- in for election. He returned on Wednesday. Frank Everist and Chas. Eller were in these parts lust before election , trying to find out how folks were going to vote. We understand George Frederick - ick did not get as many votes as he anticipated , in this precinct. He got one , and that his own. Mr. and Mrs. Howe Smith passed - ed through these parts , last Sun- day. They were out visiting her brother Ed Walker in Kansas. A number of our young people attended the Hallowe'en party at Mrs. M , C. Maxwell's last Thursday - day evening. All report a very pleasant and enjoyable time. t / t . 1- . . .
