The Republican electors of the state of Nebraska -
braska are requested to send delegates from
their several counties to meet in convention in
the city of Lincoln , Wednesday , October 2 , at
2 o'clock , p. in. , for the purpose of placing in
nomination one candidate for judge of the supreme -
preme court and two members of the board of
regents of the state university , and to , transact
such other business as may come properly
before the convention.
Theseveral counties are entitled to representation -
sentation as follows , the apportionment being
based on the vote cast for the Hon. Joseph S.
Bartley for state treasurer , giving each county
one delegate at large and one for each coo

Republican Judicial Convention.
The Republican electors.of the Fourteenth
Judicial district of the state of Nebraska are
hereby requested to e1e t and send delegates
from their respective counties to meet in convention -
vention in the city of McCook on Wednesday ,
September ISth,1895 , at one o'clock , p. m. , for
the purpose of placing in nomination a candidate -
date for Jude of the District court of the
Fourteenth Judicial district , and to transact
such other business as may properly come before -
fore the convention.
The basis of representation will be one delegate -
egate for each one hundred votes or major
fraction thereof cast at the general election of
1894 for Hon. T. J. Majors for governor , and
allowing one delegate at large for each county.
The counties will then have delegates in the
convention as follows :

The Republican electors of Red Willow
county are hereby requested to elect and send
delegates from their respective voting precincts -
cincts to meet in convention in the city of Mc
Cook on Saturday , the 14th day of September ,
1895 , at II o'clock , a. m , for te purpose of
electing eleven delegates to the Republican
State onvention to be held in the city of Lin-
coin on the 2d day of October , 1895 , , also , to
elect eleven delegates to the Republican Judicial -
cial convention to be held in the city of Mc-
Cook on the I8th day of September , 1895 , and
to place in nomination candidates for the following -
lowing offices :
One County Judge.
One Sheriff.
One Coroner.
One Treasurer.
One County Clerk.
One County Surveyor.
One Superintendent of Public Instruction.
One Clerk of the District Court.
One County Commissioner , Third district.
And to transact such other business as may
properly come before the convention.
The basis of representation will be two delegates -
egates at large for each voting precinct and
one delegate for each fifteen votes , or fraction
. thereof , cast for J. S. Bartley for state treasurer
at the general election in i894. The several

INDIANOLA.
Henry Powell is very sick
Olive Rittenhouse of McCook
will teach in the North Star school
house , the coming term ,
Supt. Bayston made a between
trains visit to the metropolisTues-
day evening , on county institute
business.
The rainfall at this place from
the first of the year up to August
10th was 14.9 inches , according to
Judge Hill.
Banker and Mrs. Dolan are the
parents of a fine nine pound son ,
who made his appearance at their
home , last Friday.
J. J. Lamborn came up from
Wilcox , on Friday night , to spend
Sunday with the family , and , perhaps -
haps to observe the antics of the
political cat.
Rev. George E. Taylor occupied
the Congregational churchaunday
evening. He was formerly pastor
here and has many warm friends.
He is now connected with Doane
college at Crete.
Miss Edna T. Meserve arrived
home , Sunday morning , from her
five weeks' absence in Colorado
Springs , Colorado , attending a
summer school for teachers , and
incidentally seeing the attractions
of that charming country.
The Woodmen picnic was a
great success. There was a two
coach special from Holdrege , an d
a large attendance from neighbor -
ing towns and country. The Woodmen -
men won the tug-'o-war. Ther e
were shooting matches , foot races ,
speeches , singing , dancing etc.
Speeches were made by Judg e
Beck , Banker Brown of Cambridge -
bridge , and others. Miss Lena
Wright read a very fine poem from
"The Woodman" . Mr. and Mrs.
J. J. Wilson , R. L. Beckwith and
Miss Akers provided the vocal
music. The Indianola band added
to the enjoyment of the occasion ,
and the orchestra inspired the
dancing. The Woodmen with
plumes in their hats and badges
on their breasts presented an at-
tive appearagce. It was quite a
notable affair withal.
FOR CLERK OF DISTRICT COURT.
In this issue will be found the
announcement of the candidacy of
C.B.Gray of this city for the nomination -
ination of clerk of the district
court , subject to the decision of th e
Republican county convention.
Mr. Gray has been treasurer of
this city , where he has a host of
warm and enthusiastic admirers
who are pushing his claims for the
nomination with great vigor and
confidence. He will be a strong
candidate for the district clerkship
nomination.

We are informed that the Drift-
wood and Danbury teams will meet
and cross willows at Cedar Bluffs ,
nest Saturday. We predict an in-
teresting game.
L. G. Ruggles and daughter
Mary of Dandy county were here ,
recently , and a visit to his oldtime
friends , James Boatman and family -
ily of this place.
J. H. Wade drove down to the
county capital , Saturday , to represent -
sent the Republicans of Driftwood
precinct in the county central committee -
mittee meeting which was held in
that place on the afternoon of that
clay.
RED WILLOW.
Noah Sawyer is again able to be
about.
James Mott and family have
gone to Oberlin on avisit. .
Willie Meyers has gone to Cambridge -
bridge to help Everett Moore with
haying.
Mrs. Baker returns , this week ,
from her trip to Frontier county
to visit her daughter.
Quite a number of our young
people are preparing for Satur-
day's examination at Indianola.
The Red Willow Christian Endeavor -
deavor society will hold its third
annual convention on August 25.
Delegates from the McCook and
Indianola societies will be present
and will participate in the exercises -
cises of the occasion.
DANBURY.
Miss Addle Annis is improving.
Lebanon vs. Danbury , Saturday ,
August 17th.
Marion Powell shipped a car
load of hogs , Wednesday.
C. H. Oman was doing business
at the county seat , Tuesday.
Danbury played Lebanon 30 to
11 at Danbury , last Saturday.
C. P. Underwood sold the first
load of wheat here , this year , to
the elevators.
Miss Maud Eno and Betsy
Plumb are attending the institute

B. N. Leisure and wife started ,
Monday , for an extended visit in
Iowa and Missouri.
S. W and W. J. Stilgebourer
start , Wednesday , for a visit in
