Assistant Superintendent Highland
was at western ( hvfsfon headquarters ,
Tuesday , on business of the road.
Mrs. James Chamhers came down from
Sheridan. Wyoming , Saturday evening
last , on a visit to McCook relatives.
Roadmaster Josselyn is talked of as a
possible assistant superintendent of a
Wyoming division of the Burlington.
The Boston chop house has been purchased -
chased by E. B. Odell , who has changed
its name to Odell's restaurant. Elza
has the qualifications for making a popular -
ular caterer.
A measure has been introduced into
the Kansas legislature prohibiting the
issuance of free transportation of any
kind , even the exchanging of mileage
for advertising.
George F. Rule , who has been store-
muse clerk here for the past two years ,
has accepted the clerkshipunder Foreman
Ritchie at Sheridan , and left for that
place on Tuesday evening.
Pneumatic berths ai-td cushions are the
coming thing in parlor cars. A patent
for such an invention has recently been
issued. It will make cars much more
sanitary and comfortable.
The railroad men's club now occupy
the rooms formerly used as an office by
Dr. Spickelmier. This gives the club
four rooms facing on South Main street.
in the Temple building , and makes them
very fine quarters , convenient , roomy ,
steam heated and electric lighted.
Luman N. Howe , who spent a couple of
days here laslweek , seeing old friends and
scenes , departed for Trinidad , Colorado ,
Friday night. He has not been able to
do any work since his terrible injuries
received in an accident about two years
ago , in whichi lie was terribly scalded.
Word was received here , first of the
week , of the shooting of Warn Knowles
at Logansport , Indiana , and his probable
fatal injury. The reports indicate an
attempt at hold-up. Warn is a nephew
of Mrs. H. H. Berry and formerly acted
as a night caller here. Many railroad
men will be sorry to hear of his injury.

North Divide Events.
The protracted meetings conducted by
Rev. Vivian at Box Elder are 1v'ell at-
ten ( led.
William V. Johnson and family Consent -
sent no longer to he ( lebart ed from tl e
pirvileges of good society , an(1 have
moved hack to North Divide and occupy
the A. T. King place.
A generous supply of clothing and a
few other necessaries were donated by
the people of Illinois and sent to this
precinct. A portion of them were distributed -
tributed from the house of William X.
Johnson. The precinct is indebted to
Mr. Johnson and family for the kind
services rendered in this work.
What is the matter with the producer
of small ears of corn ; does the dry weather -
er effect his crop ? Or perhaps he is
chewing the end of his lead pencil in
secret , and will astonish his readers
with several columns of poetry. Our advice -
vice is "don't. " If you can't raise
"nubbins" surely the flowers of poetry
won't grow for you.
We ought to say something about the
snow , the recent cold weather , the coining -
ing of spring , etc. , and so carry on , as
far as possible , the work of the ne v-
paper in disseminating news. But then
sonic people who d0 not take T1iit TRI
BUNS would still be in outer darkness
and we will let it go and leave you to
find out these facts as beat you may.
Though facie may spoil some , such is
not the rase with our genial friend , Constable -
stable Muiidy , who bears his political
honors with becoming modesty , and
whose smile is as bright , and grasp as
fervent as it was before election. We
almost envy Box Elder the pleasure of
owning Charley as a townsman , but we
still take comfort in the thought that
the Divide has a place in his generous
heart.
How nice it would be if , among other
much desired things , we could believe
that the time would come when people
who are sick or slightly ailhtg will not
be put on the "sick list. " If we were
suffering from poor health we should
strongly object to being put on
that mysterious "list , " for the writers
always leave us in doubt as to its nature.
Where is the "sick list , " and who keeps
it ? how many are on it ? what do they do
with folks when they get them there ,
and how long do they stay ? Or , at
least , if we must have a sick list , why
not , for convenience , have a "life" list
and a "dead list. "

ly pulverized and thoroughly mixed.
The dcse is a large tablespoonful for
each 200 pounds of hogs to be treated ,
and it should be given only once a day.
