Ed Harris has "commenced replevin
proceedings in the county court to secure
possession of the goods recently taken
from the Harris hardware store under an
execution from Squire Berry’s eoilrf. It
will be remembered that not long before
the culmination of James Harris’ misfor
tunes in business, , he disposed of the
stock to his son Ed, who now seeks to
regain what was taken under the judg
ments against the father.
Cards are out announcing the approach
ing nuptials of Mr. Jesse Edmund Allen,
the well known and popular traveling
man, to Miss Minnie Clark Johnston, the
charming and accomplished daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. George E. Johnston of our
city. The ceremony will be performed
at residence of the bride’s parents on the
evening of December 20th at 7:30 o’clock.
Journal: Frank Huber, hypnotist, deaf
and dumb actor, suicide and all-around
freak, petitioned for a new trial,Wednes
day, but the same was not granted. He
had already been sentenced to one year
in the penitentiary.
Old man Kinnick living on the bottom
south of the city had two horses stolen
recently. There seems to be an organ
ized gang of horse thieves operating in
this vicinity, just now.
Miss Addie Doan went down to Lin
coln, Tuesday morning, on a visit to the
Laflins, who are now making their home
in that city.
South McCook is rejoicing over the de
parture of the unsavory Kaley outfit.
A number of farmer B. F. Clark’s chil
dren are sick.
