William Fauss was with us, last
Sabbath.
Grandpa Lincoln is up and around
again. He thinks he has got the rheu
matism under control now.
Somewhat like winter was the close
of last week. Look out for the pota
toes and vegetables in general.
Mr. Dutcher has improved the ap
pearance of his place greatly. He is
well located for wintering stock.
James Harris is feeding rather exten
sively this month. We hope this in
dustry will succeed, as we expect to
see this valley boom with an old-fash
ioned harvest in 1894.
Mr. Taylor is hauling wood from his
creek ranch this week. He leases his
place but has been to considerable ex
pense seeding to tame grass. This
choice farm consists of 800 acres, with
timber on every quarter except one.
C. S. Ferris is teaching the fall and
winter term of school in this district.
He reports fair attendance and seems
encouraged, although the last change
of weather was rather severe on colds,
but nothing serious resulted.
Election passed off quietly. But in
comment we will say our general elec
tions are savoring too much of the
mechanical or machine style. Let us
have less mechanism. If a man docs
not honestly know what he ought to do,
would it not be better to refrain from
voting at all? The old adage is, “If
you know not what to do, then do
nothing.”
