- vho consider it as remarkable in
its way as the latest record of Nan
cy Hanks. The young prodigy
went amile in 2:17 on a heavy half-
mile track on three shoes , having
cast one of his hind shoes before
he had gone 100 yards. Itis only
six months since this remarkable
infant pacer was firsfc put in har
ness. He had smashed the two-
year-old pacing record before by
going amile in 2:16 on a kite-
shaped track , but under the cir
cumstances his latest performance
is far more remarkable than that.
It is predicted that with a pneu
matic-sulky and a fast track he will
do his mile in 2:10 before the end
of the season. The climate of
Nebraska seems to te favorable for
the production of fast colts , and yet
it is to be hoped that the cultiva
tion of corn and sugar beets will
not be abandoned. Bee.

campaign. "Even in the city of
Macon , " he says "many prominent

condemnation of the most tyran
nical measure that was ever con
ceived in malice and brought forth

While ascending Pike's Peak by the
new rack railway about one person in
200 is affected by the rarity of the air
at the high altitude. The indications
of distress are itching and redness of
the nose and then blackness under the
eyes. A woman who was dying
apparently on a trip recently was sent
back on the locomotive to the foot of
the mountain , where she recovered.
The summit is 14,400 feet above the
level of Hhe sea.
Insurance Azalns * Frost.
A frost insurance company ia being
formed in Ii-ance and it promises to
be a successful venture. Itis estimated
that the loss to agriculture by frost in
Francois about § 15,000,000 , and tha
company will insure against this.

said mortgage , the sum of $411.60. with inter
est at ton per cent , fiom this date , for which
sum , with costs , plaintiff prays for a decree
