Fannie Davenport ,
The great American tragedienne has writ
ten the following note for the benefit of her
sex. It should prove especially important
when it is remembered that no class is so well
posted on the subject of which she writes , as
professional women :
NEW YORK , Aug. u. Mr. Wisdom : Dear
Sir Your Robertine was highly spoken of in
San Ftancisco and a lady friend induced mete
to try it. It is very fine and is an excellent
application for beautifying the face and
hands. The Robertine powder is delightful.
4-4ts. Very truly ,
FANNIE DAVENPORT.
Happy Hoosiers.
Win. Timmons , Postmaster of Idaville , Ind.
writes : "Electric Bitters have done more for
me than all other medicines combined , from
that.bad feeling arising from Kidney and Liver
trouble. " John Leslie , fanner and stockman ,
of same place , says : "Find Electric Bitters
to be the best Kidney and Liver medicine ,
made me feel like a new man. " J. W. Card ,
ner , hardware merchant , same town , says :
Electric Bitters is just the thing for a man
who is all run down and don't care whether
he lives or dies ; he found new strength good
appetite and felt just like he had a new lease
on life. Only fifty cents a bottle at A. McMil-
len's drug store.
A Good Suggestion.
From the Dubuque ( Iowa ) Telegraph.
The adjourning of the impeachment court
last Saturday on account of Gen. Weaver's
belly-ache , cost the people of this common
wealth nearly $500 , one dose of Chamberlain's
Colic , Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy would
have saved this expense ; and we suggest , as a
matter of economy and humanity , the state
provide against future contingencies of this
nature , by furnishing each senator with a bottle
tle of that valuable remedy. 25 and 50 cent
bottles for sale by George M. Chenery.
Notes From a Traveler.
Some of the most fertile land in the state
is to be found between lloldrege and the Col
orado line and as a grazing country there is
no finer in the land.
To ride across the prairies of Nebraska to
day it is almost impossible to imagine that
but twenty years ago it was the lit-nic of the
Indians and the buffalo. The advance of
civili/.ation soon works wonderful changes in
the appearance of the great wc.st.
If Nebraska does not produce a splendid
crop of cereals this year she has certainly
blinded the eye , dulled the intellect and be
numbed the understanding of the observer of
the promising sign she has displayed in beau
tiful green , bordered with sunshine and spiead
upon her broad and rolling prairies.
The sod house and the dugout , tho.ie relics
of the early settlement of America are fast
disappearing even along the Republican val
ley. A hole in the ground , or the weather
beaten sod walls on the side of a "draw" being
occasional remindeis of pioneer days.
Crops of all kinds along the 15. & M. from
Hastings to the Colorado line never looked
better or promised more at this season of the
year. The oats , wheat , corn , rye. barley , flax
and grass crops are making a most prolific
giowth , are of health color and would glad
den the heart of the eastern farmer. Hastings
Nebraskan.
La Grippe Again.
During the epidemic of La Grippe last sea
son Dr. King's New Discovery for Consump
tion , Coughs and Colds , proved to be the best
remedy. Reports from the many who used it
confirm this statement. They were not only
quickly relieved , but the disease left no bad
after results. We ask you to give this remedy
a trial and guarantee that you will be satisfied
with results , or the purchase price will be re
funded. It has no equal in La Grippe , or any
Tin oat , Chest or Lung Trouble. Trial bottles
fiee at A. McMillen's drug store. Laige bet
tics , 50 cents and $1.00 . ,
Oh , What a Cough.
Will you heed the warning. The signal
perhaps of the sure approach of that more
terrible disease Consumption. Ask yourselves
if you can afford for the sake of fifty cents , to
run the risk and do nothing for it. We know
from experience that Shiloh's Cure will cure
your cough. It never fails. This explains
why more than a million bottles were sold the
past year. It relives croup and whooping
Cough at once. Mothei s do not be without it. For
lame back side or chest use Shiloh's Porous
Plaster. Sold by A. McMillen.
Are you Suffering
From back ache , inflammation of bladder ,
brick dust deposit or stone in the bladder ,
or in fact any derangement of the kidneys or
urinary organs ? If thus afflicted do not lose
time and waste money on worthless liniments
and worse plasters , but strike at the seat of
the disease at once by using the greatest of
all known remedies , the celebrated Oregon
Kidney Tea. Pleasant to take , purely vegeta
ble. Satisfaction every time.

The July number of Romance is peculiarly
suited to the season. An old-time Fourth-of-
July story by Helen Lee Sargent is one of
its features , and tales by Miss Mitford , F. W.
Robinson , Edmond About , Alphonse Daudet ,
Henri Paget and Ernest D'Hervilly , figure
among its contents. There are also striking
original sketches by Lieut. J. H. Scott , Annie
W. Sanborn and A. G. Canfield. Romance
is distinguished for its excellent humorous
stories , and several appear most appropriate
ly in this hot-weather number. A half dozen
graceful \ \ e stories vie with them in amuse
ment and interest. Two ghost stories , sever
al thrilling narratives of adventure , the ex
quisite pathos of "The Siege of Berlin , and the
delicate drollery of "The Wizard of Plaisance"
combine to make the whole issue one of extra
ordinary merit and attractiveness. The mag
azine is issued by Romance Publishing Com
pany , Clinton Hall , Astor Place , New York'
The price is 25 cents a number ; subscrip
tions , $2.50. a year.
Just as sure as hot weather comes , there
will be more or less bowel complaint in this
vicinity. Every person , and especially fami
lies , ought to have some reliable medicine on
hand for instant use , in case it is needed. A
25 or fifty centy bottle of Chamberlain's Cohc >
Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy is just what
you ought to have and all that you would
need even for the most severe and dangerous
cases. It is the best the most reliable and
most successful treatment known and is pleas
ant to take. For sale by George M. Chenery.
Are you troubled with corns or bunions ? If
so , let us give you a little advice. Pare them
down as closely as possible without drawing
blood ; then soak them in warm water to soften
them and apply Chamberlain's Pain Balm
twice daily , rubbing them vigorously for a
few minutes at each application. A corn
plaster should be worn for a few days to pro
tect them from the shoe. As a general lini
ment for sprains , bruises , lame back or rheu
matism , Pain Balm is all that can be desired.
