almost perfect satisfaction. On Tues

County commissioners have been in
session for the past week , as a board of
equalization. They have had to raise
the assessment in some precincts and
lower it in others. Your correspond
ent is in favor of a uniform assessment
all over the state , and the same to be at
the actual cash value of the property
assessed. This would make our as
sessed valuation show much better
abroad , and our tax would be no higher
and every one would pay according to
what he was worth.

homestead in the presence of the rela
tives of the bride only. We extend to
them our best wishes for a long and
lappy life.

. LEWIS ARRESTED.
Win. Lewis was arrested yesterday
( last Thursday ) charged with selling in
toxicating liquors without a license , and
a preliminary examination was held be
fore County Judge Woohuun , today ,
resulting in his being bound over to
the district court. There are some
fine points involved in the case , as he
has a license which does not expire un
til July 1st. It is claimed by the pros
ecution that the village board exceeded
their authority in issuing a license be
yond the close of the municipal year.
The only question at issue is , does the
statutes fix the closing of the municip
al year or the ordinance fixing its close
at July first a legal one ? At any rate ,

I of his rights. The trouble is a subjecl
to be deplored at this time , and on him.
as we believe he has tried to obey the
law in business , We are opposed to
the license system in its entirety , but
at the same time , as long as it remains
on our statute books , it must be the
law of the land. Hitchcock Republi

way CLOTHING- put up ever oc
curred to you ? If it has not , a visit to
the various places where clothing is

and the fact that we are selling Men's and Boys' Suits

clothing business. We have put forth an extra effort this
spring , and you will find our tables loaded down with the
prettiest line of MEN'S , BOYS' AND CHILDREN'S SUITS
to be found on this market , and if you are looking for good ,
