MAJ.OR BIcKEiGHAN is "queer ing" himself with a rapidity that must be paralyzing his champions. Ton will do your state distin guished service , next Tuesday , by voting the entire Eepublican ticket. BEWARE of' the boodler. He is abroad in Keel Willow county work ing against the prohibitory amend ment. So FAR as vote making is con cerned Major McKeighan's "blow out" was a success for Hon. N. Y. Harlan. COL. MULLEN , the versatile and vigorous , did not wear Major Mc- Keighan's "halo of glory" in the procession , Saturday. OUR Mend Eskey , of Bartley , is somewhat of a humorist him self. This week he formally an nounces his withdrawal from the race for representative. Why bless your poor misguided soul , Milt , you were never "in it. " THE TRIBUNE notes quite a gen eral returning of those republicans who were unthinkingly sidetracked ed by the independent movement. Their eyes have been opened to the cunning hand of the democ- Tacy , who are manipulating as the power behind the throne the sight was too much for them. THE Eepublican rally held in McCook , last Saturday evening , was the most enthusiastic and most largely attended ever held in Western Nebraska. The speeches by Judge Mason , Hons. L. D. JRichards , T. J. Majors and J. C. Allen were able and pointed , re ceiving unbounded applause. It was a grand meeting and a splen did success. A SPECIAL from Eed Cloud says ihat the largest republican rally of the campaign was held there , Tues day evening. The speakers were J. G. Tate , the silver tongued orator tor of Nebraska ; J. C. Allen , can didate for secretary of state , and A. E. Humphrey , candidate for superintendent of public buildings. IVIr. J. C. Allen's large acquaint ance in this vicinity assures him a good vote. THE Kearney Daily Hub refers to our fellow townsman , who made a few remarks at a grand rally , last week , in the Midway City , in the following language : "THE LAST SPEAKER Hon. J. C. Allen of McCook , the young candidate for secretary of state , was introduced and said a good word for the other members of the ticket , modestly keeping himself in the background. He said he stood firmly on the platform of the Eepublican party and expected to stay there. " THERE are fewer McKeighan men in Eed Willow county than there were before that gentleman .spoke in McCook , last Saturday , and gave such unmistakable evidences - -dences of his absolute and entire unfitnessfor the high office to which he aspires at the hands of this people. Mr. McKeighan's deport- jnent here marks him as lacking the nerve , spirit , character and dig nity to represent a brave and in telligent constituency. His speech .savored more of braggadocia and smut than of facts and logic. He appealed more to the prejudices ihan to the judgment and intelli gence of his hearers j and exhibited altogether a grossness and absence of ability discouraging even to his .own followers in this section. Republican Alliance Men Ponder ! OMAHA , NEB , October 23 , 1890. Mr. Chas. Bnrchill , MindenNeb. Dear Sir : Your name.has been sent me as one of the representa tive members of the farmers alli ance of Kearney county who has expressed a desire to do all possi ble for the election of W. A. Mc Keighan to congress from the Second end district. We appreciate this friendly feel ing on your part , and it behooves us to rally our forces and if possi ble to see that every republican member of the alliance casts his vote for Mr. McKeighan. The eastern part of the district is showing a stronger feeling in the interest of Harlan , and to be suc cessful we must hold the alliance together in western counties. The present congress was repub lican by a very small majority and if we succeed in electing Mr. Mc Keighan and a few more democrats from republican districts we will have a democratic majority to con trol the next congress. We hope you will put forth ev ery effort to this end. Yours very truly , ELMER D. CHASE , Member of the national , democrat ic congressional committee for Ne braska. THE STATE OP NEBKASKA , ? KEAKNEY COUNTY , f I , James A. Cline , a notary public in and for Kearney county , Neb. , do hereby certify that I haye seen this day the original of the within copy and that the within and foregoing - ing is a true copy of same. Witness my hand and official seal this 27th day of October , 1890. JAMES A. CLINE , [ SEAL ] Notary Public. LAYING politics aside , it is a fact that Mr. Eichards , one of the can didates for governor , is well worthy of the votes of the people. He was nominated by the republican party , but had he been nominated instead by either of the other part ies , he would still be as suitable a man for governor as can be found in the state. One can predict what kind of a governor he will be by seeing what sort of a business man he has been. During the time he has lived in Fremont he organized and founded the Eremont foundry and machine shops , the Eremont Stock Yards and Lumber company , the Eremont planing mill , the Ere- mout Canning company , the Ere mont creamery and the Fremont hemp mill and twine works. These establishments employ in the ag gregate about 400 men , and benefit that city hundreds of thousands of dollars every year. A man who shows such enterprise and push in behalf of his own town is a good man in any station of life. The slate needs just such a man for governor. It needs an active and enterprising business man , and with such a man to run the execu tive department of the state , we believe every citizen will be satis fied , whether of the same political party or not. Ponca Journal. LIKE all common , braggarts , McKeighan lacks courage. He claimed courage to lead atmob. . He had courage to disturb a Ee publican meeting. But when one of the Eepublican speakers to whom he had applied particularly offensive names in his afternoon speech , came forward to deliver his address at the monster Eepub lican meeting in the evening at the opera house , the doughty Mc Keighan fled the hall precipitous ly. Perhaps it was just as well , however. Judge Mason was thus saved the performance of a pain ful duty. IT NOW transpires that B. A. Harlan of the Stockville Sentinel was not on the train at the time he claims to have heard the con versation between Hon.N. Y. Har lan and Mr. M. Y. Starbuck , which he recently made the topic of a mendacious assault on these gen tlemen. We leave the reader to conclude for himself how much truth there is in an interview that .this man Harlan claims to have overheard , when he was not in the car or on ihe train at the time the talk took place. THE Omaha board of education are out in a circular to the school teachers of the state imploring their votes and influence against prohi bition. The sad condition of Kan sas teachers is urged. THE TRIB UNE suggests to the Omaha board of well , name it , that the teach ers of Kansas in their last state meeting unanimously declared for prohibition. A YOTEfor the prohibitory amend ment.
