A New Loan and Banking Company.
( .From The Owego N. Y. Times. ]
Mr. Charles E. Shaw , formerly of the firm
of Shaw & Dean , this village , who lias been
connected with the Western Loan and In
vestment Company of Hastings , Nebraska ,
J
for tho past year , has withdrawn from that
company and organized a new company.
The new company will be known as the Ne
braska Loan and Uanking Company , and
will be located at McCook , a very thriving
town in Nebraska. The new company lias
a paid up capital of 5100,000. Mr. Shaw is
President of the new company , and our pop-
uiar townsman , C. A. Thompson , who is
Cashier of the Owego National Hank , and
Treasurer of this county , is Vice-President.
O. G. Webster , Esq , of Eastliampton , Mass. ,
a former Owego boy , is the Eastern Mana
ger. The Treasurer and Cashier are west
ern gentlemen ot good standing and ability ,
both having had several years' experience in
the business. A number of our prominent
citizens have taken stock in this company as
well as many other gentlemen in the several
towns and cities in this vicinity. Mr. Shaw
jj
is a first-class business man , as honest as the
day is long. We have known him all his
life and his careful business habits. We
congratulate Mr. Shaw upon organizing this
OSi
strong company , and-also the citizens of Mc-
Cook upon securing so excellent an organiza1
tion in their city. We bespeak for tho NebI
raskaLoan ! and Banking Company a brilI
liant future.

A Pig Party.
Another new fad for social gatherings has
been discovered or invented. It contains as
bln
much hilarity as those gatherings for the
study ) of anatomy called the donkey party.
The ; new thing is called a pig party. Every
body at a party is required to draw , witii a
J
pencil on white paper , two pigs. The draw
ing must be made without taking the pencil
off the paper. The second drawing must be
made with the eyes blindfolded , after which
the paper must be signed. The fun comes
when a comparison of the drawings takes
place , and the prize in competition is given
g
to the draughtsman of the best pig. The
person who makes the worst drawing is call-
g the pig.
An Evening Party.
A card party was given to a company of
tlb city's young people , last Friday evening ,
by ; Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Kimmell , at their home
on ] North Main Avenue. Those present were : at

Hopes He May Remain.
From the Bartley Inter-Ocean. ]
McCook , Neh. , Dec. 2S , 1888.
John Wiley agrees to leave town on the
morning train of January 2 , 1890 , and never
return if the county seat of Bed Willowcoun-
tju is not located at McCook on or before Jan
uary 1,1890. Joux Wiley.
Dated Dec. 4,18S8.
The Inter-Ocean sincerely hopes that John
Wiley will have the pleasure of remaining , B"r
as McCook is the most enterprisiiur city be-
tween Hastings and Denver.
Realized Handsomely. D
The ladies of the Methodist church realized
neat little sum from their dinner and lunch ,
Washington's Birthday , our citizens quite
generally taking advantage of the extensive
and toothsome "spread" made by the ladies II
oi that occasion.
A Dead Certainty.

Sunday evening , oh "Kindness to Animals , "

That the leading dailies of Nebraska are f ®
against prohibition , while the country week- "
