Crete Globe. We understand that Cooper & iToore will in vest in a stock ranch south of Mc Cook , and will start in about the first. Holdrege Nugget. Ed. Ouster and Bonnifield Bros. & Co. felt the weight of the liquor law , last week , to the tune of $110 and $125 respectively. Oberlin Eye. Six hundred miles of railroad will be built in this state , during 1SS6 , the B. & M. doing the larger portion of the construction , with the Northwestern second. NKAULY one hundred of Oberlin's business and professional men have formed a law and order league , for the purpose of enforcing the law against the illegal sale of liquor and against gambling. A fund of $1,000 is being raised for the piupose , and the matter is to be pushed vigorously. Bailey the building cast of the At- wood house. Mr. Custer will at once open a firat-class restaurant and oyster parlor , similar to those under his man agement at Oberlin and McCook. At- wood Democrat. THE meteor seen the other night in the western part of the state must have made a tremendous noise upon explod ing. Point ? more than a hundred miles apart make the same report as to its course , apparent height , explosion and deep , booming fcound. When we con sider the r.irity of the upper atmos phere we icalize that it icquires a ter- riGo force to send sound waves over hundreds of miles of lower air. From the entire dispersion of the visitor in mid-air it must have been ga eoiib in its structure. IF it was true 1900 yearn ago that in j older to inheiit the kingdom of heaven a man must be poor and despised it is true to-day. If pride of person and purse took people to hell then theare taken there now by the same agencies. Phaiiseees are no better now than then. If what Christ taught was true , if it was the everlasting , literal truth , how many followers has he to-day ? If the salvation that he taught was the only = safety then and now , where is the world going to-day ? After the water of life is leached through-high priced pews and reflects the glittering light from many colored windows docs it have any vir tue lef t ? Topics. ' 3Ir. X. ( I.
