F. M. & E. M. KIMMELL , Editors and Publishers. Official City and County Paper. - Tnc Stratton Gazette by Clias. Love is the latest candidate for public ap proval. THE journalistic field in Hitchcock county is pretty well represented by six newspapers. TllE People's Ticket was successful throughout in Hayes countThe herd Jaw carried by a majority of 133. EISLEV'S cake was "muchly" dough , while Solomon's Sun shines forth with its accustomed brilliancy since Novem ber 3d. THE Republican ticket was elected in Pumas , county , except , the treasurer. Corbin's pole was too lengthy by about 175 votes. "WAIT until we hear from Ohio" is an old cry of the past. The Buckeye State's constitution was changed at the last election , thus doing away with the last of the October States , a commend able move. ' IT was not a republican whirlwind in Iowa , Larrabce's majority now being es timated at between six and seven thous and. But it is enough for the present occasion. Prohibition has not particu larly increasod the party vote. THE mugwumps will now go up on the back shelf of the curiosity shops and museums along with the mummies , mastodons and other distinct animals and things of the archrcologicnl and pa- Jeontological periods Journal. THE Stratton Herald , last week , be came the property of J. W. Burney. The editorial tripod will bo held down by Friend Ashwill as before. D. W. Irwin , who retires from the Herald , will shortly launch another paper on the sea of journalism at Akron. THE air is full of railroad projects for this state , the co.ming spring. The pros pects arc that with the opening of sprin the greatest activity will exist in rail road circles. Lincoln , Hastings , Kec Cloud and other points arc on the tip toe of expectation. THE legislatures of New York anc New Jersey are both republican by good majorities , while Hills' stupendous ma jority has dwindled down from 8'J,00 ( to but a few thousand. It does not ap pear to have been such a , tidal wave aftei all , and the probabilities are that the country is quite safe. VICTORY : perched upon the Republi can banners in the following states , which voted November 3d : Pennsylva nia , Illinois , Iowa , Connecticut. Massa chusetts , New JerseyColoradoNeb'ras ka and Kansas. Dakota territory also elected the .Republican ticket and se lected Huron as the territorial capital. To the democrats belong New York. Maryland , Mississippi and Virginia. THE President has discovered an 5n- jmrrection in Washington tcrritorjlie , has issued his proclamation warning trie insurgents to disperse. There are com munities nearer home that are display ing a good deal more lawlessness than anything we have heard of in Washing ton territoryand it might do some good for Mr. Cleveland to take notice of them also from time to time. Journal. FRIEND POWERS up in Frontier county feels pretty well over the late election. He illuminates the following head-lines with the conventional cock : Hallelujah ! We Crow for Republi can Success in Frontier County. The Entire County Ticket Elected by Neat Majorities and Pluralities. Westgate Displaced by the Indignant Voters , Who Know Him Bo.-t. Franklin Triumphant Over Miles'and Selby. While Sanders and Morris arc to Hold Their Places Yet Another Term. THE metropolitan newspapers , a day or two after Ferdinand Ward was taken to Sing Sing , gave accurate descriptions of his appearance at work setting up stoves , the trade that had been assigned him. Everything was described circum stantially , and it was especially dwelt upon thatFcrdy took readily to the busi- . ness and would soon turn nut as good n , day's work as any old hand. Now it is " brought to light that he hasn't been in the stove room at all , but he has been making himself useful shovelling ashes from the pit under the boiler in the en gine room. lie is to be assigned to the stove room after a few days of probation jn the ash pit. : DISTRICT COURT PROCEEDINGS. i The following Isasummaryof theproceed ings of the November tenu of thcDistric Court held atlndianola last week : State vs. Joseph Braun Assault.
