Critchfield of Nance county has commenced proceed- ngs in the supreme court for the pur pose of testing the validity of the law , ) assed by the last legislature , providing 'or a register of deeds in certain coun ties. It will be remembered that this is the act in which a mistake was made in enrolling. It was the intention of the O egislature to provide for a register of deeds in counties having a population of 15,000 and upwards. The act was passed and received the approval of the governor ; but when the enrolled act was examined it was fouiid that one cipher had been omitted , which made it read 1,500 , instead of 15,000 as in tended by the originators of the act. The action is brought to compel the county clerk of Nance county , J.W.Mc- Jlellan , to include , in the election no tice of officers to be voted for at the general election , that of register of ieeds. Information reached this office at a ate hour Tuesday night of a serious ivreck which had occurred on the B. & M. road.
