Chas. Scholtz and his nephew of
Arcadia were callers on J. L. Ferguson -

of Broken Bow but now of Lincoln ,
stopped in our city a couple of days
on his return from the west
Farmers are taking advantage of
the good roads and favorable weath
er by marketing their wheat. Last
week moved an unusual amount of
this cereal.
Superintendent Weldenhamer of
the Burlington made- trip over
this end of the Alliance division last
Saturday and give our depot official
a pleasant call.
Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Runyan <
Mason City were in Broken Bow
Saturday. Mr. Runyan reports con
husking In progress in his neigh
borhood but the yield not as good
as expected.
Mr. Roecker returned from St
Joe the latter part of last week. lie
informs us that his little daughter
Hope is improving in health , which
is good news to the many friends
of the family.
Sam Johnson a prosperous farmer
living south of Mason City came to
Broken Bow last Thursday evening
to have some repairs made for his
automobile. He returned home the
next morning.
The M. B. A. basket social last
Friday night was quite a financial
success. A good crowd was in at-
emlanco and a general good time
was .enjoyed by all present. The
proceeds were used to create a fund
lor the benefit of sick memebers.

turns from the election of Tuesday ,
just received , show that Mrs. Brit
Trevathan has defeated W. J. Ivy ,
the democratic nominee for county
clerk of Angellne county. Her ma
jority is about 200.
Mrs. Trevathan's husband belli
the place and was the party nomi
nee for re-election , but died. His
widow was appointed to the position
but the county committee declined
to nominate her for the vacancy ,
; ' naming W. J. Ivy. Mrs. Trevathan
then waged a vigorous fight as an
independent. This Is the first time
a democratic nominee was ever de-
featetd in this section , and it took
