George Bishop who has * 'een transacting business in Brown Co. has returned home. ' Jess St. Glair is moving on the Ed. Haumont farm , he has the place rented three years. Charley Cookslcy and Frank Powell bailed hay for Mr. Piper on the Mottiuger farm , the first oMhe week. The box supper at the Pernie school house was not very well attended on account of the cold weather. Zumbrotn Zephyrs. Ed. Small is having his share of trouble this weather' his well is out of order , and he haste to haul water for his stock. Nice weather for such work. Rector are expected home thn week from Lincoln We had a bad runaway in our neighborhood last week. Oscar Enylehjgerd was takin" a load of hogs to the Bow. When near Ralph Johnson the horses started to run , tipped the wagon over , in fact it landed eight side up but no hogs were in it. The wagon hammer dropped out turning the horses loose. Mr. Englesjgerd was badly shaken up but was able to be taken to the Bow thit evening. The horses were caught near Mr. Stones. One her e on each side of a barb wire fence. We understand there was no serious injury to them. A. I. Routh and wife spent Sunday at Frank Cramers. Joe Coles sister from Ohio is here on a visit. Fred Pershall took his sisters Mrs. Frederickson and Pearl to Callaway Monday morning. He will'then go to Ocontb by way of the Motor car before re turning1 home. He will move to Ainsworth Ne.br. this spring and bis sister and husband Mr. and Mrs. McCullough of Washington will move on I. N. Pershall's farm where Fred has been living. Will Parkers mother is visiting Mr. Olsons a few days this week. Charley Sands and Charley Koozcr attended a dance at Albert Smiths last Saturday evening and report a fine time. Last Friday evening about 60 of Mr , and Mr * * , Joe Coles'neigh ' bors and friends tnt at their new home. The evening was pleaseutly passed with music and recitations and at a late hour refreshtnants wers served. Welsscrt. Tice Case returned home Thursday from Omaha where he shipped a car load of cattle. Charles Cooksley shelled corn for Al Crothcr aud his brother Arthur Saturday. Mell Steinman marketed corn at Ausley Thursday. A large crowd attended the basket supper at Weisscrt school house Thursday evening. . 'Amos Noble and son Charmer started to Texas Friday where they expect to make their home. Hey Leek was down from Elton looking after his interest on Charmer Noble farm where he and his brother Carl expects to move in a few days. Dave Hilton will have a public sale at his farm a mile and 'ha'lf ' south of Weissert lebr. 24 , as his son has bought a farm of hU own and expect to move on it in March , Peter Towns was a visitor at Shaddens Sunday evening. Mrs Elex Pirnie was visiting her daughter Mrs. Arthur Cook- sley Saturday and "unday.1 Charles Shadden went to Omaha with a car load of cattle last week and will rot be back for a week as he is going to visit his Grandmother. Henry Holmes was visiting Weisscrt school Friday. Will Scott was visiting Pipers Sunday evening. Henry Holmes had quite a accident last week while husking oorn a ear of corn fell near the wheel , reaching down to pick it up the team started running the wagon over bis hand , at this writing is some better. Alilldale Items. Mrs. Win. Phifer , of Arnold , visited the school on Friday of last week. J. D. Has'kell went to Callaway on Tuesday and returned Wed nesday. Tom Skinner of Wyoming is visiting the Butler boys. Ellory Kruser has been market ing wheat in Callaway. The address given by Dr. Thomas Tuesday night was a highly enjoyable oie aud should he come again the hall would undoubtedly be taxed to its ut most capacity. J. J. Seauey returned Satur day from Kansas City , Mo. where he was in attendance at the in terstate pigeon shooting con test. He reports a very excell ent trip although the weather was rather cold and stormy. The trophy was carried off by the Illinois team. The second number of the Milldale Lecture and Entertain ment course will be given Febr. 23 by Rev. C. B. Stephens of Kearney. He will give his lec ture the "Cliff Dwellers" and give illustration with latern. This lecture hss had a place on Chautauqua platform which speaks in highest commenda tion for it. Mr. Stephens has spent several summers in the "Cliff Dwellers" country and is well prepared for his subject. Frank Squires and wife of Brwnell Kans. who has been visiting - here left Wednesday lor home. Mrs Juel received word that a sister Jiving in Iowa was dead she left for that place Tuesday night. Mrs. George Shoup who has been quite sick is some better at this writing L. T. Martin has two more hired men. There was no league Sunday night on account of cold weather. A few of the boys attended the dance at Mr. Paylor Satur day night. Cbas. Longfellow is on the sick list. L. T. Martin has carpenters this week finishing the sheep shed. There has been but a moderate run of fat cattle here this week , and the beef trade has been in excellent shape , prices generally a quarter higher th n the close last week. Tops reached S7.10 today , the highest figure paid here" this season. Cows and heifers have shared in this ad vance as well as steer stuff. We look for moderate supplies the balance of the week and expect - 1 : to see a good trade. There have been quite moderate supplies of stockers and feeders and prices have ruled strontj and higher. The hog market today was strong and active , iSc higher. The bulk sold at $9,15 @ S9 25 ; top $9 35 , the high point of the season. With only moderate supplies of sheep and lambs the trade has been strong this week. At this time good killing lambs are sl - ling at ? 8 75 @ $9 15 ; good ysar- Jiners $775 @ * 8.15 ; wethers $6.75 @ $7.35 ; ewes $650 @ $680 Clay , Robinson & Co.
