H ujgiiers and legal votera. We further find that the propos ed new county of Alfalfa will oou tain more than 450 square miles , leaving the county of Ouster with more than 450 square miles. Wo therefore recommend that the petition bo granted and that the question of the erection of the proposed - posed now County of Alfalfa , bo submitted to a vote of the people of Custor county , Nebraska , at the next general election , and that notioa be given , and that the vote be canvassed as required by law in Biioh OBB08 , and that the form of ballot shall be "For the now County of Alfalfa" and "Against the new County of Alfalfa. To which report of committee and order of board Emerson R Purcell excepts. At 6 o'clock the board took a recess until 8:30 : tomorrow. Friday , Aug. 20 , 1909. The board met at 8:30 : a m , with all members present. The minutes of yesterday were then read and appoved. A motion was duly made and carried that the county clerk be instructed to furnish EJmerson R Purcell with a certified copy of the request of petitioners permitting mitting- the retnonstrators to offer evidence and etc , together with the Action of the board thereon. The chairman appointed super visors Grint , I < ee and Cushman to investigate and report upou the petition for the proposed new county of Iliggins. The balance of the forenoon was spent in committee work aud at 12 m the board took a re cess until 1pm. Afternoon Session. The board met at 1 p m , with all members present. The chairman appointed supervisors Lee , Grint and Gilmore - more to investigate and report upon the petition for the pro posed new couuty of Sheldon. The committee appointed to investigate and report upon the petition for the proposed new county of Higgins made the fol lowing report : Which petition was in words and figures as follows : To the Board of Supervisors of Custer County , Nebraska. Honorable Sirs : We , the un dersigned , legal voters of Custer county , Nebraska , residing in the territory hereinafter describ ed and sought to be detached from Custer county , do respect fully petition your honorable body for the erection of a new county out of the territory now ' \ comprising Custer couuty , Nebraska - / braska , and that the question be jf submitted to a vote of the people ple at the next general election and that you call and order such election. The new county shall be known as lliggins. county and be bounded and described as fol lows : Commencing at the northeast corner of Custer county , Nebras ka , theuce running west on the county litre about 29 miles to a point in the ceuter of the Middle Loup river , where the said river crosses and intersects with the couuty line , thence south and cast down the ceuter of the Mid dle Loup river to a point , where the river intersects with range line between ranges 20 and 21 , i thence down the range line \ about thirteen miles to the 1 southwest corner of section 31 , township 18 north range twenty , thence east about six miles to the southwest corner of section 31 , township 18 north range 19 , thence south about four miles to the southwest corner of section 1'J , township 17 , north range 19 east aforesaid , thence cast about 18 miles to the southeast corner of section 24 , township 17 , north range 17 , thence north along the county line about 22 milea to the corner of the county and the place of beginning. We certify that we liye on the land described opposite our names and we ask that our names be counted in favor of said petition , and that in no event shall they be counted against it , nor in favor of any remonstrance against it.
