Misses Elmira and Nannie Mc Comas are home for their sum mer vacation. They attended school in Broken Bow last year. The neighborhood feels very bad over the fate of Charles Ro derick. The young man was with his brother George last year and helped farm. Early in the winter he started to Custer col lege and has been there until last week , when he suddenly be came insane and was taken to Hastings immediately. It is lioped that he may soon recover. Miss Belle Sands is staying a few days in the city this week. Dry Valley. We are having plenty of hu midity these days. We ought not complain even if some have- not all of their corn planted. Mr. T. H. Decker met with quite a serious accident while listing corn. In some way the lister upset upon him while the horses were still going , dragging him with the lister , bruising , and at ono time it was thought rupturing him. At this writing Mr. Decker is doing as well as well as could be expected and it is now thought an operation will not be necessary. The oats sown broadcast are not as good'as in former years on account of the freezes and after wards dry weather. The drilled oats look fine , We.put ours in that way and made a suggestion favoring the- drilling of oats before the seeding began. ANSLEY. The Ansley Commercial Club will hold another meeting this week to perfect the organization and will hold meetings monthly hereafter. John Comstock visited Sar gent , St. Paul and other places this week. Paul Carothers is home from Lincoln , where he has been at tending the medical college. A base ball team is being or ganized here and it promises to be a strong one. Carothers will be chief twirler. We understand that under the County League Rules no team can use outside players. The Decoration Day exercises were well attended and interest ing. A very large procession drove to the cemetery and the graves of the "Old Soldiers" were strewn with flowers.
