Arrangements have bccu made whereby the Boston Bloomers , a , female base ball aggregation , l\ \ will play a matched game of ball ; J with ubald headed nine in Broken - , ' | en Bow on next Tuesday afternoon - * noon in the routh side ball park i ' at three o'clock. The line up in bald headed nine is as follows : ' Bartholomew , catcher ; Kuns , i pitcher ; Martin , shortstop ; Dar nell , first base ; Van Antwerp , second baseSkilliuan ; , third base ; Beck , right field ; Beal , center field ; Turner , left field. In order that enough bald heads would be present to finish the games John son and Kirk have signified their willingness to act as substitutes in case some of the regulars get knocked out. The banks will close at three o'clock in order to see the game. If you have never seen women play base ball with bald headed men this will per haps be the chance of your life. Everybody should attend as the proceeds of the game will be given to the Civic Improvement Club'to aid in the work which the Club is doing. Remember the date , next Tuesday , July 21 at three o'clock. Dierks' Blgck is Threatened. For a short time , just aftci dinner yesterday , it looked as though the Dierks' Block was doomed to go up in smoke , but tbe timely arrival of the fin company saved it from such r fate. The fire started at tin rear of Shcpp'ard & Burk's store about midway of the block. A boy was filling a five gallon cat with gasoline and the supposi tion is that he stepped on i match and , as a result of sucl act the fire company had to be called out. The boy escapee without injury other than a bac scare , 'ihe fire company uset hooks and pulled down a smal ware house and the box in whicl the large tank of gasoline is kept Two streams of water was playci on the the flames for about tei minutes before they were subdued The loss to Sheppard & Burk i not very much. Knohn-Barnes. Ernest E. Kaolin , of Sargent , and Miss. Lura A. Barnes , of Lillian , were united in wedlock at the home of Kcv , J. K. Tea- gargen at 10 o'clock yesterday morningJuly 15. The funeral services of Mr. Crowther was well attended at the M. 1 ? . church last Thursday. John Shadden is on the Hick lint this week. We have oflcn wondered why Roy I < eck has hecn coming" to Weissert lately but he informs us that he is noliij ( to farm near Welsseit next summer. ] 4ook girls there is a good chance. We hear that Mr. Crowther is not going back to Oklahoma , hut is Roitif ; to stay with his wife's folks near Weissert , We nre sorry to hear of the death of Mrs. Jackson , who died at her home in Broken Bow. The funeral services were held at the Church of God at Weissert , which was well attended by the many sorrowing friends. Quite a number of the youug people attended church list Sunday which wen ! Fred Govier and Miss Mills , Frank Davis and Miss Kvnits and Roy I.eck and Miss Piruie. Prairie Hill. There was a large crowd at the hall game Sunday. Tlte Trairie Hill boys won , Miss Merle Miller spent Sunday at Mr. Kelley's. Mr , P. Spraker , of Round Valley , spent Saturday and Sunday in this neighborhood. Mrs. N. Bay visited at Mr. B. Eivins' Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Boss Neth were called to the I < oup last week by the illness of their niece , Opal Huffman. Mr , Walter Heafele and sister , Miss Lizzie Heafele , Miss Nora Huffman and the two Miss Millets visited at Mr. I.otiglellow'a Sunday. Mauk on W * % SW. % Sec 3. E. % SE X Sec4 - T. 15 R. 19 , we recommended that tbe asses- ment be reduced as follows : Unim- pro ed land to $10.00 per acre. And in the matter of tbo protest of A. Polkinghoru , we recommend that tbe assessment be reduced as follows : Improved land to $17-50 per acre- And in tbe matter of the protest of D. K. Wilson we recommend that in reference to tbo NE. X Sec. 27. T. 17 R. 20 be rejected and that the W. % of Sec. 27. T. 17. R. 20 be reduced * 1000 00 also that the SE , % . Sec. 27. T. 17 , R. 20 be raised $1000-00. And in the matter of protest of Thos. S. Jackson we recDmmend that the request be granted , and tbe Clerk directed to make correction. And in the matter of tbo protest of J. A.
