Contributed The vicinity of Oconto was _ shocked on Saturday last , Nov. - 2 , when thc sad news spread of , I the sudden death of Francis Wilcox - ' cox , an old and respected settler of that place. Mr. Wilcox sccmed to be in ex. ceptionally good , spirits during the day and joshcd and cracked jOkes with his two sons , Sam and Nelson , before they left to go out bunting in the morning. At 12 o'clock he ate' a hearty dinner , after which he took a pall and wcnt over to George Thurman's windmill after watcr. He sat down to wait for the windmill to pump and was found a few min. utcs after by a son of Mr. Thur- man , in a sitting posure , having expired in that position. Heart failure was the cause. Deceased was 74 years of age . and has resided here since the spring of ' 84. He leaves a wife and three sons and three daughters - ters to mourn his demise.
