. To Republicans of Custer County.
Election day is again near us
I. and the different political parties .
i are before you with their candi-
dates. We have no word to say
1 in dutraclion of any candidate of
j our frieuds of the o1.her side , for
I 80 far as we know , they arc all
! good citizens. We am sure , how-
I ever , that not one of them will

I see the voters ; some of them are
I heh ! in s ch high esteem' by the
public and have proven so popular
that they found no , opposition at
I the primaries , and are sure of re-
I election. We have no apologies
to make for any of th'm for they
. ! have , as a whole , conscientious
.
and efficient. officials , not only
! des rving of their full party vote ,
'j ' but also the vote of those who
, owe allegiance to no party.
: Judge Humphrey has made
good all what his friends claimed
for him. He has faithfully attended -
tended to the chities of the office I ,
and has done his work as well
and as thoroughly as any judge
we have ever had. No one , we. are
sure , bas any just cause to com. I
plain of his official conduct and
he is entitled , on that ground , to
gain the vote of every republican
and of everyone who appreciates
faithfulness in office.
We never had a morc efficient
and systematic clerk of the district -
trict court than Geo. B. Mair.
He believcs iu doing all the work
he can himself and saves the
county many a dollar through
his industry. We ought to reward -

; . re.electing him. There is no

John Cave nee , our county treas-

many a night he is at work taking
care of our county revenues when
most of us are in bed. lIe surely
, carns every cent of his salary and
the voters realize that , as at the
primaries be found no opponent. I
Everybody knows Joe Pigman ,
our competent and genial county
'clerk , for we all , or most of us
have had business with him some
time or other. Joe is another
- luckY , candidate and he not only
tecelved : a large republican vote ,

Custer county.
Mr. Van Antwerp , our candidate -
date for surveyor , is by all , acl.
mitted to be the most competent
man in that line of work in the
county , aUtI he is busy the year
'round.
As to the candidate for coroner ,
L. E. Cole , we hope that his office
will prove to be only honorary ,
but if he should be called upou in
an official capacity no one doubts
that he would prove equal to tbc
occasion , and do his work well
For county assessor we hav ,
for candidate M. H. f"oster of
Anselmo. Mr. Foster being n
new man before the public ant
not so well known to many of you
but we know that a better mau
for that office would be hard to
find. His experience as deputy
assessor has made him familiar
with the work and the county. .
board of equalization has never ,
had occasion to raise or lower his' '
assessments. 'l'hat shows that
he is a man of good judgement.
He is familiar with the values of
all classes o ( property and the
people of the county will get impartial - .
partial and fair treatment at bis i
hands. Mr. Foster is entItled to
your vote , if you want a man
who will do his level best and
will come as near as anyone can
to doing justice to all in assessing
the property of this county. You
will make no mistake if you vote
for Foster.
For sheriff , why voterl Ifor
sheriff we have Horace Kennedy. I .
By a big majority you picked him
for your candidate from among
several good men , because you
thought he was the man for the
place. His record in the service
of his country. his manly and
courteous behavior at all times ,
his conduct in general , have made
you feel that he is one of the
men that will make good. You
arc not mistaken voters , Kennedy
will make good and no one will
e\'er regret a vote for our soldier
candidate.
'l'here is no good reason , voters ,
why we should' " not support our
'
ticket. As long as our candidates -
dates are worthy , we a republicans -
cans , are in duty bound to stand
by them. We should consider
that obligation seriousl ! and not
evade it , without the best of.
reasons.
We make this appeal to you , as
your committee , because we feel
that our c .ndidates deserve it.
Hespectfully ,
Rnpu IICAN CmtMIT'l'Jm.
He is True to Constituents.
Tax payers in Supervisor district -
trict No.2 , regardless of party
affiliations , would make a great
mistake if they fail to elect R.
R. Welch his
own successor as a
of thE : board of super- I I
visors. During the eighteen
months of service as a supervisor
he has proven his ability and
steadfastness in the interests of
the tax payers of his dis rict.
He has takeu a keen interest in
county matters to the extent that
he is now exceedingly well posted
itlld better able to attend to the
duties of the office ancl represent
his constitutents in a more satisfactory -
factory manner than heretofore.
We have faith in the intelligence
of the voters of the 2nd district ,
populists and democrats as well
republicans , to the extent that
ther will not vote to try an ex-
penment when they arc so ably
represented by Mr. Welch.
J. B. Klump Matrimonially Harnessed.
The Merna Postal Card of the

where amid the bustle of that
city the bonds of blessedness was
thrown to the winds and the
domestic harness was t > laced

home ou the 'l'able the first of
the week and the neighbors and
their. families in all about one

designated Spot Wednesday evening -

these people properly celebrate I
the ocassion. "
The Postal Card stated further
that..after the visitors had beaten
their tin pans to a frizzle a.
demand was made , after a knock
on the door , to see the newly
weds , whereupon Mrs. Klump.
appeared and stated that her
husband was not in the house nor
had he been during. all the
racket. And she spoke truthfully.
for Mr. Klump , disguised and
armed with a wash boiler and a
club , had joined the' gang and
made more noise than any of
them.

Herbert Meyers is 'Competent.
In discussing , in its abqsive
way , the candidacy of Mr. .H. Go'

Beacon has made
some false
I
charges against Mr. J. E. Myers ,
the fath.r : of H. G. It admitted
that fact in its last issue , but it
ought to have gone fartlier"and ;
stated that Mr. Myers has only
appeared twice before the 'county
board in the last four or'fiV
years , and then it was , each time ,
to save the county useless expense.
We will admit , that Mr. H. G'
Myers is young and never hIlS'
had much practical experience in
county board work , but neither
has Mr. Headley. . Mr. Headley

The Beacon Confesses One Lie.
EDITOR l nl'UIlLICAN :
It seems ; that the Beacon sticks
its bea.k into a whole lot more
than" can tear off and this i .
what it says in the last issue :
liOn investigation we find that
our recent statement thalJohn
E. Myers nearly always as' 'an
ax to grind before the board of
sup rvisors is not entirely borne
out by the facts" I
Now voters of the 6th district ,
if the Beacon's editor swa lows
himself on this point , how about
the rest of his article ? 'l'e
Beacon is t rribly distressed for
fear that John may have some ,
influence over the next county
board. The Beacon is not well
enough posted to know that John
could have represeuted the 6th
district at almost any time dur-
tug the last twenty years had he
not refused to accept the u m na.I I
I
tion because he does not like tue I
supcrvisor system and has had all
the business of h s own that he
could attend to. This hard work
and close application to business
have made hun a handsome little
fortune. There is today not a
man in the 6th s tpervisor district ,
whose opinion is more sought
after in square legitimate business -
ness , or whos word goes further.
If anv member of the board of
supervisors shouid need a little
advice I would recommcnd that
hc consult with J. E. Myers ,
. John is not runding for sup rvisor
'but Herbert Myers is and is not
'only ' a ctedit to hi's fallier but
w ll11lake a creclitable official if
elected. '

reasonable to believe that if one

For years she has been visiting
professionally the largest cities
of the United States. Her
opinions arc quickly made , and
if a cure can be made then and
there she tells them , and if it
cannot be made she is equally
honest and tells them so. We
know that she has cured thousands -
