Qeo. Sigler , formerly a residenf

gaged in the mining business in
the Black Hills the past twelve
years is visiting in the city with
his daughter , Mrs. Bob Brindle.
He brought back with him , Mr.
Brindle , who went to the Deadwood -
wood hospital for treatment.
1'he change of climate was not
so beneficial as had been hope .
The Burwell , Garfh'ld county ,
Tribune of last week contained a
notice of the marriage of Miss
Minnie Cline , of that place , and
'l'homas Noble , a son of Mr. and
Mrs. Amos Noble , of'Brokcn Bow.
" ' 1'om" has been clerking in the
Racket store at Burwell , but is
now employed at the rail way
depot at Plmer. ' 1'he wedding
occurred on Monday , March 4th.

sc-ured at Baisch's drug storc
the 19th , 20th and 21st. Miss
Fisher Shipp , reader and soprano
soloist , one of the entertainers ,
has appeared in this city on
a previous occassion and delighted -
lighted the audience.
li'aith in Brok , > n Bow is spread
abroad in the estimation'of Judge
Armour is a sure enough fact as
he has just purchased the half
block of lots , cpposite the South
ide school on the east , of "Jack"
Crable , now a residen t of
Nebraska City , for $1000. The
rapid rate at which. lots are
selling and raising in price will
500n enable the judge to realize
a snug profit on his investment.
'rhe ncw boiler at the ci ty
pumping station is proving very
satisfactory and at the rate it is
saving coal will soon pay for
itself. Witb the old boiler from
OOO to 2500 pounds of coal was
consumed daily ; whlle only from
1200 to 1500 pounds are used
since installing the new one ,
which is a saving of a half a ton
dailv , or about $60 per month.
It c st $600 , and the freight and
5etl1ng about $400.
Jesse Gandy , after the city
: aucus Monday night , seems to
feel that 1.is failure to receive the
[ ] omination for mayor was be-
: ause the voters do not appreciate
his gift of the court house bloc.k ,
but Jess should l now that his
lack of votes was not due to lack
Jf the voters appreciation of his
past and present interest in the
: ity. ' 1'he facts 'Ire he has no
reason to feel sore over the resul t.
rhe present mayor had served
Gut one term and wh1le he had
1nnounced he was not a candi-
late , it was very plain from the
) pening of the caucus that the
oters did not intend to let him
Jff from serving another term
1nd that was the principal rea-
) on that he , with other candi-
tates for mayor , were not serious
Iy considered b.v t e.voters. . .
Mayor George's adm1t1Htration
has been a clean one and gener-
l11y acceptaule , which fact alone
ls rcsponsible for the defeat of
111 other candidates. Broken
Bow and Custer county do appreciate -
preciate Jess' liberality and they
will show it , should an accept-
ahle opportunity present itself.
l'here is probably not a man in
the county more generally known
than Jess Gandy and under some
conditions no one would get a
bigger vote for any office and his
defeat Monday night docs not
s1gnify disapproval of his public
record as former mayor or sheriff.
